how can i update the firmware to my psr 3000 correctly?

you can download the latest PSR-3000 Firmware (V1. 80) from the Yamaha Support website:

https://uk.yamaha.com/en/support/updates/firm_psr-3000.html

Please refer also to the files "Firmware upgrade..." and "Additional Firmware information" on the linked site (below "Related Downloads").

If the current PSR-3000 firmware is Version 1.60 or earlier, it has to be updated from a Smart Media Card.  That is to say, firmware versions 1.60 and earlier will only look to a  Smart Media Card for an update.  Beginning with Version 1.70 it will look to either a Smart Media Card or to a USB Flash Drive for updates.
