I've always wanted an easy way to play rubato with these workstations, especially for accompanying vocalists. The free styles have been my solution so far.
This is what I found to control/vary the Master Tempo with an FC-7:
Activate the 'direct access' and move the FC-7 to get to the setting screen. Touch 'Foot pedal 2' (that's where mine is plugged into): in Category go to Overall (pg. 2 of 2); in Function, go to Master Tempo (pg. 2 of 3).
I'm sure there are other ways to do this but for now this will do for me. It's a function I have wanted for a long time and didn't even know it was available on the SX900.
This may be old news for many of you but for me this is a great find. -Ed L.

Wow KeyboardED, Thanks so much for the info. a very useful function both for accompanying singers and for performing as a soloist. Greetings. Hans

Thank you Hans,
This is a control feature I've been hoping to have for a long time.
I would like to say I researched the documentation and located the procedure but that is not true. I was really just messing around with the menu system for familiarity when I found the setting by dumb luck. -Ed L.

Good 'Lucky founding', KeyboardEd. OK, it is in the Ref.manual, but it doesn't harm to bring to our attention ;)

Is it on the S975 too?
-
Toril,
I am not sure if that (foot control of tempo) is a function available on the S975 et al. My last PSR was an S950 and that version did not have an easy way to vary tempo during live performance. At least to me it did not. -Ed L.

Thanks Ed L😀

Is it on the S975 too?
Hi Toril,
I looked in various Reference Manuals and came up with the following result:
With Genos and PSR-SX models, the "Master Tempo" function is available for a connected Foot Controller Pedal (FC7).
Unfortunately, this function is NOT available on Tyros and PSR-S models for a connected Pedal.
Best regards,
Chris

Hi Toril, For your info and to be sure: it can not be done with the S975. :( (Look at page 118 of the Ref.Manual.)
(Was a double post with @Chris)

Hi ton37, Then it's also for my PSR S950. I am Sorry because I've looked for that change of tempo.
-
As far as I know it is only available on the new keyboards Genos and SX900.

Thanks Chris, Ton and Eileen!
