Title: Set SFF properties for Multipads (PadMaker)
Post by: MusicMan on February 21, 2020, 12:06:35 PM
Hi

I used PadMaker Styles to convert style channels to multipads but the multipads don't voice lead like they did in the style because I don't think there are SFF properties available for multipads.

In PadMaker the only properties I see related to how they interpret chords are "Follow Chords" yes or no and drop down box  for "Follow Code"  but the box has only one item, a "1".

The style channels I am trying to convert to multipads use mega voices.
I want to set the following so that the multipads follow the chords in a smooth manner like the way they do in the Style.
• NTR = Fixed Root
• NTT Type = Chord
• NNT Bass = Off

Is there a way to set multipads properties like NTR, NTT type and NTT bass so that the voice leading from chord to chord is similar to how the styles playback?

Thank You

There are 8 different codes for Multi Pads.  This is discussed in the PadMaker-Midi User Guide.  Michael and I could not determine what all these codes represent, but they DO relate to CASM settings for the styles.

You can try the different codes (selectable in PadMaker-Midi) and listen to what happens.

Hi

UPDATE >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

OK now I am making progress. I am getting "Follow Chords" codes  1 thru 8 after I select a PSR device and then switch it back to Genos.

I tried all 8 codes and they all seem to yield the same result which is something I don't want.
I am trying to create a strumming clean guitar, it's a mega voice. and I simply want it to voice lead to the closest voices when I change chords. It is not doing that. It is transposing the root and the chord when which sounds like unsmooth voice leading.

I am using the same midi performance in a style channel and I got it to voice lead properly by setting the following SFF properties:
• NTR = Fixed Root
• NTT Type = Chord
• NNT Bass = Off

But after trying all 8 "Follow Chord" codes, none of them produces the smooth voice leading. I am continuing to experiment.

Now PadMaker Midi only has one item in the "Follow Chords" drop down when I open a Multipad  in PadMaker Midi?

Got a solution. Convert a Multipad to a style. Set the SFF properties in the Style. Then convert the style channels back to a multipad. It doesn't work seemlessly. Sometimes the SFF properties don't carry over.
