Decided to do some singing videos on Youtube.
This one is using EasyCountryBallad Tempo 88

Excellent! Great singin' and playin'.
BTW, I got a hundred dollar tip for doing that song last week! The guy was a friend of Merle's.
Merle's son Marty is a friend of mine and he sings this one nearly exactly like Merle did.
Love me some Haggard, and I love your rendition. We look to be about the same age, and both have great taste in music! :)

Gerard,
Please excuse me if I'm butting in, but did you ever hear the story of how that song originated?
Here is Marty telling it:

Don,
What a great story!
I don't know about being the same age, I am 78. lol
I sing about 15 Merle Haggard songs.
I like Don Williams too, and George Strait, and on and on.
The older country seems to hit home more to me.

I'm "just" 76. Still working most every night.
Here's another brief story. Through a mutual friend, years ago, I became friends with Bonnie Owens, who sang harmony with Merle, and was married to him for a while.
One night they were in town working at a casino and she came out to where I was playing after their show. I asked her to sing and she did "Cowboy's Sweetheart". When I asked her to do another, she asked if I minded if she just sang harmony with me, because that was what she loved to do.
Did I MIND?! I sang every Merle song I know. She even commented that I probably knew more of Merle's songs than HE did.
Anyway, I recorded the entire evening directly from my mixer, and now have more than two hours of her singing with me. What a night to treasure. I have to convert them to a more modern medium soon, as they are on Mini-disc format.
I'll be quite now! :)

God onya' Gerard, that was a good job, I enjoy Merle's music & others from that era.
Tried to sing with you but it hurt my throat, I had a couple of unneeded ops on my vocal hords(so I believe now), but you two lads have a long way to go, so enjoy, & "do it while you can", ha ha.
Don, What great stories & memories you must have.
Nice to see musical folks plying their wares in vids.
Cheers, Alan

Yes, nice job. I like it a lot. I wonder, is the any requirement about copyrights on Youtube?

Every cover song that I have uploaded to Youtube, had a copyright claim. What that mean - if I understand it correctly - is that the revenue for adds will go to the copyright owner, but it's not illegal to upload a cover song that you play.
I am not sure how they analyze the songs that you upload to Youtube, but they must have some smart algorithm that recognize the content.

It is confusing because I read this on Legal zoom:
Thousands of times a month, someone posts cover song on Youtube. And whether the video is a live band performance or a toddler singing from her high chair, most are posted without permission from the songs coyrightholder-meaning they`re infringing someone`s copyright.
If the copyrights owner complains, You Tube may remove your video. And if you`re a repeat offender, your
You Tube channel- and all its data-may be permanently deleted. In rare instances, you might even be sued for copyrights infringement.
