Title: strumming guitar track makes weird sounds in Cubase
Post by: shawnkey on January 18, 2020, 03:35:06 PM
Hello Forum,

i have a PSR A2000, similar to PSR S650.

I recorded a strumming guitar from an intern style and saved it as midi.
In Cubase played with an intern virtuell instrument "Halion" the strumming guitar is right in the lower sounds, but
the upper high notes are weird, like peeping.
Can you help me please.
thx.

If your Guitar is using a " Mega " Voice from the Keyboard.

There isn't much you can do about it.
That Guitar Pattern is designed to play from the Keyboard.

If it's not a mega voice

Please send the Midi file
( Cloud Storage Link Please)

Regards Norman.

Edit - Those Higher Notes are the Fret Noise , Slide ,
Check the Data Manuel for more information regarding that Voice.

Delete them and see if i still sounds okay. ( Those Higher Notes)

I think it is a special voice
They use hight short notes to acitvate effecs on the voice
You can remove them in cubase in the score track
select the little high notes en delete them
Why are you use a virtual synth in cubase
you better playback on the keyboard with the usb midi cable and computer
then you keep the right sound

Hello Forum,

thank you for your quick answers.

Yes, it is a MegaVoice, solidguitar 2.
Yes, i deleted the upper sounds, but i am not happy only with the limited lower sound.

How do i work.
Why i want to record in Cubase with an intern virtual instrument.

I don't want any distortions coming from cables and interfaces.
I record a complete style on PSR-A2000, save it as midi.
Open it in cubase, play each single sound with an virtual instrument „halion“, record each single sound as wav.
So i can choose the sound i like and i can put endless effects on every sound.

Why i not record every single sound as wav on the PSR-A2000.
The main reason is the timing. I have to adjust every single wav later in cubase.
Not so important for me, is the less variety of soundbanks in PSR-A2000.

Because of noises from cables, interfaces, power supply line/current line and computers i record my vocals external on a Tascam SD20.

Okay, i can live with it. Because it is only the strumming guitar.

I am open for ideas. I am a long time PC user. I would never say, no,
that does not work. Everything is possible.

Thank you for your time.

better use not a mega voice for a strumming guitar
use a steelguitar no effect and a little reverb to keep the strumming clear

if you are using megavoices then there is no other alternative then to record it as a wav file. It's also quite easy to do in cubase by recording it directly in cubase and then use the elastic audio tool (warping) to modify the wav file in any way you want in cubase itself.

that leaves the cable noise and powersupply noises you are a recording in cubase, that's also really easy to solve by using a gate insert in cubase and as an addon, buy a hum eliminator to remove all the unwanted sounds during recording, this works fantastic. I use the Ebtech hum eliminator for all my recordings and every high noise and hum is filtered out before recording the end signal. Highly recommended and not that expansive..

Other alternative is to invest in the kontakt strumming guitar libraries (or steinberg guitars) and then don't use the keyboard guitars.

My problem was described in my first posting.
The other posting was only to explain how i work.
Sorry for the missunderstanding.
