Hello...
I was wondering if GENOS Registration setups and User styles will also load & work on the SX900?
Or do you have to start from scratch on SX900?
Also will the premium Genos expansion pack work on the SX900
any help appreciated

Mine seem to work ok. but bear in mind there are 10 registrations to a bank on Genos and only 8 on SX. so i lost 9 & 10.
SX is not equipped with as many voices/styles as is Genos - so you will see some substitutes + i imagine expansion would suffer much the same, although i cant really answer that one for you. they do share much the same OS as far as I am aware.....Sure you will get more/better advice in the thread from other more savvy members.

In my case answer is NO. Because all my Registrations and User styles are created from Custom voices/drums. Right there all my problems start...…

If DT brings his SX900 over anytime soon, I'll check to see if mine work. I think my User styles are in his as well as my Genos.

Well, there will be those which (coincidentally) work, there will be those that work partially and there will be those that don't work at all. A single registration actually saves everything as a snapshot (compare it with taking a photo ). If you take that snapshot on 2 different keyboards (or take a photo in 2 different places for comparison), it is very likely that it will differ greatly. In case of the registration it wil not work or work badly.
About expansionpacks. The designer has to include all the voices, drumkits etc. to make it work flawesly on a certain KB. As soon as a pack uses the preset voices or drumkits of a specific model it depends if those presetvoices or/and drumkits are in the KB you play. Yamaha has partially solved the compatibility to store / deliver voices and drum kits in the so-called 'Legacy' folder
Not to mention getting problems how/where the files are stored.
So, in this case tweaking and adjusting is the codeword…

My experience is that reg. works from older to newer keyboards and not the other way. Styles will work. Genos is older than sx 900.

Any registration Banks containing Super Articulated two voices will not work properly as there are none on the SX900. Most other things work. I am using Reg banks and Styles from my Genos and even some of the Yamaha Packs.

SX900 has landed......
Fingers crossed using the Genos setups to save a bit of time...
approximately 5 banks worth already done from genos
.if not I'll start from scratch all over again..

Donny, I think quite a bit will not work, remember Genos has some voices not on SX...and registrations may work if they do not use anything special from Genos(and only 8 not 10)....All & All I think some tweeking will make it all work out....

All genos styles and reg setups loaded and worked god....
but as expected some of the sounds not on SX900 and some levels need to be replaced and adjusted..
once done all was great. More to come
