Title: Audio recording issue- error message!
Post by: Toril S on November 26, 2019, 07:54:59 PM
Hello friends!
For the first time my S975 acted strange! I tried to record an audio song, and got the message "Cannot use the USB temporarely" or something like that. I changed to another USB drive, and got the same message. After a couple of trials I could record the song. What is up?? Have others run into this? My heart rate went up, as I remembered the fate of my S970.
Puh! Have to take a deep breath. I record all the time, so this is not good!

Hi Toril, have you formatted your USB stick on the keyboard? This usually happens to me from time to time, if I have too many audio files on the device. Another cause may be that another action was performed while trying to record on the audio recorder, for example: editing a MIDI song in SONG CREATOR, or any style file that is damaged. you can try a soft reset anyway. I hope this helps. Hans

Toril,

The message means the USB drive is not recording the audio fast enough. If the stick can't keep up with the recording speed required, that's when you get this message.

It could be a poor quality USB drive, it could be that it's fragmented, etc.

Regardless, the best thing to do is format the drive on the keyboard. Store only audio files on the drive. If you delete any file, reformat the drive, because it's these deletions that create the fragmenting.

Finally, if you can record to your User drive, then copy to the USB, you'd avoid this error.

Cheers,
Fred
