Yamaha GM&GX voices? How to find it on Genos
I'm working on a musical project on Genos, and I need some sound in the SoundEffect section, but I can't find the GM&XG or GM2 folder.
I played back some old music and it still had that sound in Genos, but when I wanted to edit it, I couldn't find it anywhere, it seemed to be hidden. I just found the Legacy folder.
How do I find it? Anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you!!!

-- Select a voice
-- Press the up icon
-- Select page 2
You'll find everything you're looking for on that page.
Cheers,

The GM&XG and the GM folders are no longer available on the Genos for selecting voices for R1, R2, R3 en Left.
Have a look here to see what you can do about it:

What??? Yet another reason to stick with my T5!!

Maybe this tip need to be in our "Voices" section of the forum as a tip for users.
Glad I read this posting as Yamaha may be doing this on the SX line of keyboards as well. I can't say I have ever used a GM or GX voice in my OTS before though.

The waveforms are still there, you just need to follow the trick to set up voice files that expose them.
I don't understand why they are not just part of the preset voices in the first place though ...

Here they are. Just unzip and copy and paste to the user section. Then just use them as you did on Tyros 5.

Thanks Stijn for doing that.
Thanks Eileen, you made it much easier to download.

Thanks, Eileen :)

All GM or XG sounds are flat. That means there is no effect on them. When used in style they have effects added to them that are most suitable. It is also quite fun to take these sounds and use voice set to change them to your own liking.
-
We can add DSP, Harmony/arpeggiator, and modify other parameters with Voice Set and save our favorite GM and XG Voices as User Voices. Then they will sound as good as the Panel Voices.

Yes I think there are many good voices and perfectly usable as solo voices on your keyboard in the GM voices. It is well worth going through them.

Thanks Eileen

Just curious: Are there more such voices on Genos than on T5 and S975? And, if that is so, can they be used on older keyboards?
-
The actual wave forms (sounds) cannot be transferred from one keyboard to another.
If the Genos has new XG Voices (wave forms) that's nice but the standard 480 XG Legacy Voices have been the same for many generations of sound modules and arranger keyboards since the 1990s.

Thanks, Joe H and Francesco :) New wave forms? Hm. Cool!

I think you will find the XG and GM voices are the same as on all Yamaha keyboards.

Very cool, thank you very much.
