Title: Demo Micro on SX900?
Post by: ton37 on August 26, 2019, 09:57:34 AM
Hi, I found this (Indonesian) video which demonstrates the Microphone into the SX900.  I'm absolute no singer but I thought it is perhaps interesting for the vocalists among us?
As I understand the microphone is connected throught Bluetooth with the SX900, or am I wrong??

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gN9XT1N_Bjk

I was hoping he showed us more effects, but he didn't. I don't understand the words, but it must be a long and insteresting ballade he sung  ;-)) But he has a good voice.

The User Manual states on page 105 that you can connect a BT audio device, quite equal to "AUX IN". The Reference Manual shows a connection diaggram on page 110 that the BT Audio is effectively just an "through" input, so it cannot be linked to DSPs, effects etc.

The guy in the video clearly has heavy reverb on his microphone, so either he is using a wireless mic connected to the MIC input (so you can use effects) or he uses a BT mic which has built-in effects.

Would be great if this type of mic should work in the SX900.👍
Wishful thinking or true ?

Hi Ton :

Singer does not show how the wireless mic has been plugged in, right ?

Best regards, B

The whole point af a wireless device is that you don't plug it in.

OK, so he possible uses a kind of 'BT-dongle' for his Microphone. This has nothing to do with the SX900 BT connection. Mmm.. you have undoubtfull noticed I'm not technical ;-). I apologize for causing some confusion.

BT connection ... VH2 cannot be used, I guess.

I withdraw from this discussion, Babette, since my knowledge in this regard does not extend that far. I have never used VH (and the mankind should be grateful for that  ;D ;D)

Wireless microphones can always be used with virtually any amp including the Yamaha keyboard. You just plug in an external receiver to match the built in microphone transmitter and of you go. It then works exactly as if plugged in with a wire. Bluetooth is a proprietary wireless protocol where devices already have the transmitter/receiver and software protocols built in. You then just link them. We know the keyboard has this because it says so in the manual. But Bluetooth is not very popular for mics in the music business because the range is short and there is a lot of risk of linking with other Bluetooth devices. Not a good idea when on stage so more likely what he is using is a standard wireless rather than a Bluetooth wireless mic. He would just have the receiver plugged into the mic input on the keyboard. No way of knowing for sure but most likely.

I believe the singer demonstrated the advanced capacity of PSR SX900 of playing big midi files.
This is a 16 minutes song(!!)
Can you imagine trying to make an exact sheet music for this song and the lyrics keep changing all the time?   :)
