Title: Bose S1 Pro System
Post by: Mike2 on June 29, 2019, 01:12:41 PM
Just curious, has anyone heard or know someone with this speaker. I guess from what I heard from Guitar Center, and reviews, this little speaker is pretty amazing.

Hi Mike,
I tried it with my PSR -S950 and had to return it. It had a very good sound, but it failed on the stereo sampled voices, especially the piano. I used Gary Diamond's piano voice he uses for the Bose L1, but the S1 didn't do justice to that sound. I swapped the Bose S1 for a Maui LD5. There are stereo inputs on the Maui and the piano voice is excellent. I'm happy!

The S1 Pro is too small. L1 compact is much better!

Thanks for the feedback. I own the Genos keyboard, and use the Lucas Nano 300 for my speakers.
I did try one Bose S1 Pro System today, and it's a little pricey, plus stereo is a must with the Genos. If you buy 2 of them than you would get stereo. But those speakers are not for me. What I have for speakers now, I am very happy with.

I have 2 of the Bose S1s and they sound surprisingly good.  There are several more detailed threads around about the Bose S1, here and/or over on SynthZone.  Up on lightweight speaker stands, they sound quite good.  Sitting on a table they sound pretty good too.  I have used them for smaller gigs and for rehearsals at a theatre production I was involved with.  The batteries last very well - I'd say they get more than the ~6 hours advertised, but when they get below about 50% I charge them "just in case".

They dropped the price *after* I bought mine (of course!) and now include the battery which used to be a $100 USD add-on.

They aren't going to blow the roof off, or thump bass that you feel in your chest - but they have surprisingly good bass and good overall balanced sound, IMHO ..

Perfect choice. I love my S1.

For comparison: With a pair of L1, we played with a rock band for 200 people at 50% of power. So these are very loud.
But for most occasions, I prefer to use the S1, they can be used in small room (sounding very clean) or for playing at church.
