Title: Using the PSR-970 as a sound engine
Post by: apressman on May 16, 2019, 11:11:58 PM
Folks I'm using Ableton to link my PSR 970 to an Alesis Keytar so that the Yamaha sounds will be controlled via MIDI by the Keytar.
I have a couple questions for those that may have sought to use the great sounds on the PSR externally.
1. I have in Ableton a "Digital Keyboard-1" and "Digital Keyboard-2" that seem to correspond to the Right 1 and Right 2 parts but not always.  When I first initialize what plays when I set the controller to use Digital Keyboard 1 is the voice on part Right 1 and part Right 2 I get on Digital Keyboard 2.  If I change the registration on the Yamaha then I can, if the Right2 button is lit I get that part and Right 1 lit I get that part but ONLY on Digital Keyboard 2,  On Digital Keyboard 1, where I'd expect to hear the part set on Right1, I get an organ patch not set to either part.  Am I misunderstanding what the Digital Keyboard 1 and 2 really align to on the PSR?   Also, only channel 1  provides any sound at all from the Yamaha though I've changed to which channel I'm sending signals.  Note that no sound is being routed out of Ableton,  I'm just getting the audio out of the PSR speakers.

Lastly, is there a way to externally control the Left part on the keyboard, particulary in chord mode?

Thanks
