Title: Fm essential app
Post by: Bachus on January 25, 2019, 09:30:34 PM
Yamaha hs a fantastic free app, named FM essential..
It requires you to connect a yamaha mx to be able to use the app

Since the Genos doesn’t have FM either, and is 5 times as expensive as the mx
Why doesn’t the app work with Genos?

Hi Bachus,

you can go to your local Yamaha dealer and connect your iPad (with the app "FM Essential" installed) to an MX BK/BU/WH synth to unlock the full version of this app (for FREE and forever):

The app should also work with the Genos then.

Best regards,
Chris

Thanks, Chris!

Yep, I did this myself. The whole MX thing was a strange attempt to get people to go into a brick and mortar store to try an MX.

All the best -- pj

Well..

Since all serious music software and tools are IOS these days and not android, you might want to consider a change...(talking mobile os and not windows/mac)

And offcourse there are several reasons for this..
-due to support for musical standards in the kernel of ios (and not android) its much easier to create musical instruments for ios
-next to that when programming for android, the programmers need to adapt for many many more types of hardware, the apple development kit takes care of that on ios..
-for commercial and payed apps, software piracy on android chases off developers, and google doesn’t care about it
-android didnt add any noticable changes for tablets over the years, making android more and more a mobile phone platform that treats a tabblet as a big phone..
