Friends with more knowledge, a technical question if I may.
Is it possible to connect a (powered) external hard-drive with an USB connection to the USB port on a PSR S950?
Not planning to do so as I don't want to run into problems but a friend of mine say's it must be possible.

As long as it has an external power source, I see no reason why it would not work.
However, it is much easier to use a high capacity, low profile USB drive, the cost and size are far less and the reliability is about the same.

I have done this - but USB sticks are easier, as no external power required.

I replaced the hard disk in my Tyros4 with an SSD.
I now have the old T4 hard disk in an external USB disk enclosure.
I can plug this into the T4 and it works fine, even without any external power. Some disks will use more power than others, especially when first spinning up, so the fact that this disk works on my T4 does not mean that every one will!
I also think that the Tyros models use a different USB power controller chip than the PSRs, so maybe they can supply a bit more current, but to conform to the USB 2.0 standard, any sockets should be able to supply 500 mA.

I was away for a few days and could'n answer earlier. Yes of course an USB is much easier. I only wanted to know my friend was right that it was possible. NOT doing it.
