Hello friends.
I made a MIDI file on my 2100.
Today I loaded the MIDI file and the style into my T5 to work some more on the song.
The style is a style from my 2100. It sounded great on the T5 - except that one guitar voice was so low that it barely was audible!
When I played back the MIDI the guitar voice was almost inaudible, same with the style.
On the 2100 the guitar is loud and clear. I solved it by finding another guitar on the Tyros, that sounded OK, and saved the style again as a user style.
I love my T5, just curious why it would not play the guitar at a decent level?

It's 1 Guitar Voice?
-
Hi,
it may be a problem of velocity or a problem of CC. Try to see the level of CC11 (Epression) on your guitar track.

Thanks :)

If you go into song creator and tab to 1-16 you can then select the track the guitar is on and alter the volume or change to a newer Guitar sound and then resave the song.
-
Thanks Eileen. I did that😀
-
Is it loud enough now?
-
Yes, Norman. What was trange was that it was loud on my 2100, but when I played the MIDI on the Tyros it was very low. I found a guitar on the Tyros that I liked and used that one instead.

Hi Toril --
It might be academic at this point, but what specific PSR voice was it (msb, lsb, and program change)?
Just curious. Thanks!

I agree with PJ.

Over my head😀😀

Could you tell us the name of the Voice.
-
I seem to re-call some voices originally used on PSR's that are not designed to provide aftertouch, when they are used on Tyros's with their Aftertouch capability, create unexpected effects, ie. low or nil volume. Maybe the voice Toril was using is one of these. The Aftertouch settings could be altered in Voice Set so they would be compatible but I'm a little hazy now on exactly what ;)
If anyone wants to check it out it is probably better if Toril posts the actual file for download as it should provide more info than just looking at the name.

Thanks John. I will post it later today. Going out bow😀

Hello friends :) Here is the style with the guitar voice at OTS 3 that plays very low on T5. It is an internal style of the much older PSR 2100, and on that keyboard the guitar is almost too loud. I am just curious as to why the Tyros will not play it properly. All the other OTS voices sounds about the same on both instruments. Please take a listen friends :)

Thanks for sharing,
It's a DSP problem,
I've noticed a Problem / Setting Quite a While ago.
Voices have Default Settings
Like DSP, Volume.
To Fix this problem for your Keyboard.
Click
OTG 3 -- Right Hand 1. -- Select another Guitar Voice -- And Come Back to the same Guitar Voice.
Lead Guitar.
If you don't don't get it
I'll send the Correction
Keeping the Same voice.

Thanks Norman :)

Thanks Norman :)
Let me know if you got it

Thanks for the download Toril. There is nothing wrong with the Aftertouch settings in this case and Norman's workaround works on my Genos too.
The strange thing on Genos is if I turn off the DSP that guitar volume comes up (without the need to load a different voice first) so you can try that too on Ty5 if you wish. It's as though the DSP is actually holding back the volume, if I turn it back on the volume goes down again.
You will get sounds with more presence by using the guitars and DSP's that come with Tyros.

Yamaha isn't open about their DSP
Although you can Turn of Automatic DSP.

Thanks both of you. Yes, I tried to turn of the DSP and the voice went up.
Norman's method worked also :)

A very interesting subject. Thank you, Toril ! 👍
I wonder why it should be useful to play " old styles " in modern arranger keyboards like e.g. the S970, T5 or Genos ?
Maybe for old " song styles " there is no alternative available and is tweaking or even conversion a must, right ?
But will the modified style ever sound as expected ?

Most of the time old styles sound fine on newer models Babette. But other times they have to be adjusted. I love the old styles😀
