Hello,

How could I create a 6/8 time signature midi file from a steprecord by using expand ?

I mean a real 6/8 time signature, and not the 4/4 time signatures that Yamaha uses for their 'so called' 6/8 styles.

Use a software like Cubase and create a small midi file with only the Time Signature inside. Yamaha will read it, even if you cannot create on it! (Strange, does not?! :D )

Edited: you have in attach an empty midi file with only Time signature event.

I haven't experimented to verify this on my PSR-E models, but I thought that this was supposed to be controlled by whichever time signature you choose before you start to record the song?

However, if you're recording with a style, the song must necessarily default to whatever time signature the style uses-- not the time signature that might be stated in the name of the style, but the time signature that the style is actually programmed with.

Thanks for the reply but it does not work that way.

Suppose i create a midi file with only the time signature included.
I go to Song recording -> multi recording. I select the song with the time signature.
Then I go to StepEdit and there the problem is that I cannot choose a style with a 6/8 time signature,
because there is no Yamaha style that has a 6/8 time signature.
There only exists 'so called' 6/8 styles but they are in 4/4.
And there is no possibilty to choose a user style (6/8) in step record.

I could record my chords in a semi 6/8 style and Expand.
The midi file now includes my chords as in a 4/4 midi file.
In MixMaster I can change the 4/4 to 6/8 but then my chords are not correct anymore. They are not at the correct MBT anymore.

The goal was to insert the chords in the StepRecord and then after Expand/Save remove all the midi notes and other stuff, to only keep the midi file with the chords.

Use the program Psruiti To adjust the position of the chords in your midi file after using Mixmaster.
