Hi.
Somebody knows what is Genos font used on display?!
Thanks!

Hi Vali,
The display font of Genos looks like Helvetica, but I am not 100% sure since there are fonts that are very similar to it.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helvetica
Thanks,
Paul

It's just curious Yamaha does not allow us to set the font as desired. Will it take place in the next update?
It has been four months since Yamaha released the 1.30 update for genos. Montage has just released a large 2.5 update with many value changes.
I hope that Genos will also have a breakthrough with the next update.

Why is it so important to ne able to change the font?

Orher fonts may be better to read than Helvetica. It would be nice to have options.

Don't get your hopes up. The next OS update will be useful, but I doubt most people would call it a "breakthrough".
Yamaha changed the two fonts they offer (proportional and fixed) with the Genos to make them more readable. The proportional font is more like Calibri than Helvetica, but there's not much difference.
Yamaha have typically given a low priority to the Text file function, and I don't expect that will change in the next release.
Cheers,
Fred

Montage seems to be on a six month update schedule. The last Genos update was April, so maybe two more months? (Assuming a six month update schedule for Genos, too.)
Probably one of the Linux or open source equivalents for Helvetica. Yamaha is probably too cheap to license Helvetica. The legal notices in the Owner's Manual has the notice: "FreeType Portions of this software are copyright © 2016 The FreeType Project (www.freetype.org). All rights reserved." Might be one place to look for the equivalent.

Thanks, all.
I saw yesterday, after I post this thread, in OM that "bitmap fonts used on Genos are the property of Ricoh Co". I searched on their site for bitmap fonts, but I didn't found nothing to be like on Genos. Seems they created special for Yamaha Genos, and it was sold only to Yamaha, and not made it public.
I will try Helvetica or Calibri.
Thnx guys.
Regards,
Vali.

Hello everyone,
I take advantage of your messages to mention that in a future update, Yamaha should allow the user of a Genos to have either the virtual keyboard in QWERTY mode, or in mode AZERTY (French keyboard).
Best Regards

Good catch, Vali!

There's more to changing fonts that 'meets the eye'
The occupied space usually changes and this will affect available entry display areas, sometimes needing a font size change too. Maybe why Yamaha had this one made.

Sounds right.
