Title: S900 backlight
Post by: simondhopkins on May 19, 2018, 04:11:28 AM
Ok last month my S900 backlight started to flicker and cause crackles and pops in the amplifier circuit.

As the backlight is a tiny ccl (cold cathode lamp) I was first going to replace the bulb, but then thought I could get a fine led backlight strip from RS cheaper than a ccl.

So I removed the tube from the lcd assembly, removed the inverter board, and using the service manual located a 12v and gnd that I could tap onto without affecting its performance.

The only downside of this method is you loose the brightness functionality in the display, but does give a better light.

So she lives on, and only wish I could come across a cheap psr9000 to compliment her (I sold my 9000 for the s900)
