Title: Midi File Tempo Problems
Post by: darrenkuy on May 15, 2018, 03:28:09 AM
So, sometimes, maybe 1/100 times, I’ll select a song from my thumb drive, and start it, only to have it play at the wrong tempo. This just happened again yesterday at a job. Random songs, no consistency, but yesterday it was “Homeward Bound”. The song started at almost 30bpm faster then it should’ve been. I stopped the song (midi file) and restarted and it played as normal.

This issue is very rare, and is not subject to just certain midi files, it is a random event that has no rhyme or reason. My work around is, since I listen for the 4 count click I use on all my files, as I play with a live drummer. I can normally catch the tempo before the actual music starts.

Any ideas, or suggestions would be great. It’s the inconsistency that’s throwing for a loop.

Hello :) I really don't know what causes the tempo change, bur my guess is that the keyboard sometimes get confused if you do many things in a short time. Slow down a bit while operating the keyboard ( not so easy when on a gig, I know :) ). If it happens very often, take a soft reset of the keyboard. Files should not be lost, but I would take a backup copy of your work nevertheless. I experienced something similar while recording a song once. Good luck :)

By "song", do you mean a midi file, style or registration?

What I refer to as “songs” are .mid files. There is no auto acc. In any of them, as I play the parts in manually. It only happens once in a while, and stopping the .mid file, and re-selecting it, then the tempo is back where it should be. It’s almost like keyboard (psr910) isn’t reading the sys exc. data correctly. I have done several soft resets on the kbrd. (Power on while holding down top “c”.

Midi files should play properly. You should post one of the offending files so someone can have a look at it.
