Title: Recording to a memory stick.
Post by: Doghouse Riley on May 02, 2018, 08:18:49 PM

I'm new to a Tyros 5. My old PSR 1000 recorded to floppy discs and I  could transfer these to my laptop  and play them as mp3s no problem.
I've just copied my first recording  on the Tyros to a stick and it appears as a midi file when uploaded to my laptop. When played it's sounds  terrible (and that's not just my performance!) What do I need to do?

Hi,

if you want a good result then record your song like Audio file on your T5.(Mp3 for example...or waw)
Transfer your song (file) to USB and play on your laptop.
Midi file dont play well on laptop cos your machine dont haw sound's like your T5 haw...

Good lack

Hi Doghouse Riley,
You got to convert the midi file to audio file first, using the Tyros 5!

Then you can convert the .wav format if you like to .mp3 or any other audio format using your computer.

As Dusan said there are 2 ways of recording
Midi recording (only a tyros 5 can play it back exactly as it has been recorded)
and Audio recording

Thanks for all the advice,  much appreciated.

Edit.

I've tried using i-Tunes, but it won't let me add a Midi sequence file, I've tried updating i-Tunes and it still won't let me.

Just record your Midi file into the Audio recorder. It will then be a WAV file which you can then convert to MP3 using one of the free programmes you can download.
