Would the Genos be able to play iPad apps like Korg and Yamaha synth apps? Is it cable or do I need to get a separate midi controller for the iPad? Thank you all!

Hi,
there are several possibilities:
* Use connection over WLAN. Then you need nothing. Just an iPad app to establish the connection. I use "Midi Network" or "NetMIDI".
* Use the Yamaha bluetooth connector MD-BT01 and some app like "BLE-MIDI" to connect.
* Use any midi-to-USB adapter together with the iPad USB camera adapter. (This is the best solution).
* Or buy a special midi adapter to iOS devices.
Then go to midi settings of Genos and decide, which part you want to send out midi notes.
* I use part Right 3 normally.
* Switch local off for right 3, if you want Genos to play Right 3 only over iPad and not locally.
That's it. Works perfectly. All apps from Korg, Roland, IK Multimedia, Moog, Arturia or other brands play just fine.

there is not a audio conection with the usb like it is on the MX & Motif Keys :-( ( yamaha resist to do this)
You need also a audio out to the input of the Genos .
Soryt :)

Uni, do you mean as a midi controller only?

Yes, because you said "play iPad apps like Korg and Yamaha synth apps". But you can also run Steinberg Cubasis 2 or Auria Pro on iPad and do audio/midi recording.
And of course you should connect the output of the iPad to somewhere. I connect it to my mixer directly. But you can use the Genos aux in, too.
