Title: Split point
Post by: mick47willis on March 23, 2018, 07:13:08 PM
Does anyone know how to set the split point so that it actually stays there?

Want to set it at 59 but after  awhile  kicks back to 54 .Make sure i turn it off at the keyboard...i know turning it off at the plug can set it back to a default.
No big deal but gets annoying.
cheers

What kind of keyboard are you using?  On my PSR-E433, the split point is stored in a registration.  So, if you change the split point, but then select a registration that has a different split point, the split point will change to whatever is stored in that registration,

On most keyboards, you can lock the split point in place. It’s called Parameter Lock.  See if that’s available on your keyboard. If not, then fix your registrations so they set the split point where you want it.

The Split Point is one of the Backup parameters, so it will be saved when you turn off the power and restored the next time you turn the power back on.

However, the Split Point is also one of the parameters that get saved in a Registration, so if you recall a Registration-- on purpose or by accident-- the current Split Point will change to whatever setting was saved in that Registration.

I don't remember whether pressing the PORTABLE GRAND button will reset the Split Point to its default value of 54.

Well, I tested this on my PSR-E433, and the Portable Grand button does NOT change the split point.  But, yes, selecting a registration WILL change the split point if the registration has a different split point stored in it than the split point that you set manually.  That's probably what is happening.  Even if you are not using the registrations when playing, if you manually set a split point, and then hit a registration button afterward, even if you then hit the Portable Grand button again, the split point will now be set to whatever was stored in that registration.
