Title: Going on the road
Post by: winternotes on February 25, 2018, 09:27:03 AM
I may be traveling cross country in the near future in my RV. Hope to pay for some camp ground fees by entertaining. I love my T4, but !! It is a little large. Any sugestion on down sizing in size and being able to use th USB that I have all my created styles on?
Thanks

The best way would be a PSR S-970
It's light weight, has speakers built in and plays all the T4 styles well.
I got it for smaller gigs.
After adjusting EQ it almost sounded the same as my old T4.

As a word of caution I have found out first hand that the T4 does not like going on the road, the jolting of cables etc causes damage to the fine wires and is costly to have fixed.  I only use the T4 in my studio for recording.

I took my T4 on many gigs and never had a problem.
I know of many others who gigged with the T4 on a regular basis.
I wonder if you have a bad unit?

Or if the roads are extremely bad?  :)

Just be sure to protect your lovely music partner in a first class flight case or a good polstered bag. (If live in Norway, you also need a car with air suspension)   ;)
I've never had any problems with any keyboards due to travel. If our keyboards don't manage to be on the road for gigs, it's not worth buying.....  ::)

Can't believe that I posted this in Feb and have not replied to you. My appoligies. I will definitely look at the 970. I My T4 does travel regularly with my group. I treat it tenderly. See it in action at

Hi.

I am sorry I didn't pick up on this one earlier.

I have a T4 which I use at home and a 970 which travels in our RV - We have just come back from 7 months in Portugal to the UK. The 970 travels in a "Stag" padded bag on the spare bed (drop down bed at the front) and gets plenty of hammer (from me when playing "Rock" numbers  :) ).

As we are often off grid I use a 12 to 19 volt converter to power the board with no problems at all - All I did was cut off the cable from the mains adaptor out and replace it with an inline 12 volt socket for use when mains power is available and put an inline 12 volt plug on the lead to the keyboard (I put an inline 12 volt socket on the 19 volt adaptor too).

Now I can play from mains power, 12 volt from the RV and from a 12 volt battery if I want to play outside. I have started more than the odd couple of parties just by playing outside - people just come and join in.

Most of my T4 styles and MFD's are OK with the 970 with just a few requiring changes for voices not in the 970.

I realise I am a little late but I hope this helps inform your decision.

Cheers
