I use registrations for most all of my song styles. Save the reg with the harmony on, then save the next reg with the harmony off.

Hi , may I ask the question as above ...
In performance, we only need the "vocal harmony" function partially halfway playing the song. It will be a good thing to have a physical button for switching on/off the function but PX900 doesn't have such a button. Now I can make it happen though "Regidtration memory" only. Any better solution ?

I then checked articles in the board and found solutions as following:

1. Assign it to an ASSIGNABLE button
2. Assign it to a Pedal (foot switch)

Thank you who posted them :)

I just did a test, and conclusively proved that when you record MIDI on a Genos2, you get different SysEx events vs recording that same song from the Genos2 to Cubase 13 Pro.

Below, there's a link to a zip file containing a Cubase project I used for this experiment. If you expand it you will find a MIDI Files subfolder containing the two MIDI files. You can examine them with any MIDI utility and you will see that the SysEx messages are very different.

There is also chord data in the file recorded by the Genos2 that is not present in the file recorded by Cubase.

I checked, and there was no Cubase MIDI filtering or transformation enabled when I recorded the MIDI file in Cubase. On the Genos2, Transmit was turned On for both System Exclusive Message and Chord System Exclusive Message.

Apparently, when the Genos2 records MIDI to itself, it doesn't record exactly the same MIDI that it sends to a computer on the other end of a USB MIDI connection. I don't know of any way around this.

You forgot the Magic Mushrooms!! ;D

Actually, I didn't. Dancing at a Grateful Dead concert with 30 foot blue and yellow flames coming off my fingertips required help from the Plant Kingdom.... 8)

PSR-E Series / Re: Is hte PSR-E363 worth buying in 2024?

Hi Toril

Just a few weeks ago you said you disliked of the E383 due to:
1. The dreaded function button.
2. You can import only 10 styles, and the way to do it is convoluted.
3. Only 2 variations, and no dedicated buttons for them.
4. NO TRANSPOSE BUTTONS ON THE PANEL!!
The last one nearly broke my heart
Same reasons that I dumped my E373 so surely the E363 is much the same??

Not only does the 373 sound better, but the 383 is here now... I guess it depends on how much less? The 373 sounds pretty good, actually, and I'd take that as a small portable (although the Casio CT series is still smaller and lighter). I didn't like the piano sound on the 363, but I do like it on the 373. I'm assuming the 383 sound great. Comes down to the price and the condition.

PSR-E Series / Is hte PSR-E363 worth buying in 2024?

Someone is selling a PSR-E363 near me, the price is half the price of the newer models. But is it worth it? I have the big beasts, but it would be nice to have a light keyboard too. I am not a big fan of the convoluted menu system of the E keyboards, but the sound is not so bad. Let it pass, or go for it?

Too bad the F51 is not touch sensitive, but otherwise it is a very nice keyboard!

And you can achieve seamless sound transitions with registrations. 8)

hi dom
PSR-SX900/700 service manual is circulating on internet and if you're interested I can send it to you. But to benefit from it, certain electronic knowledge is required, though.

As can be seen on Youtube, disassembling and assembling the keyboard is relative simple. I did that (greased the keybed) and I had no problems at all. However, if you don't feel confident, then just don't do it.
Anyway, your issue is purely software based and so there's no point to open the keyboard (looking inside won't help).

What amazes me about Yamaha arrangers is the fact, that "full factory reset" (as from the box state) simply doesn't exist. That would obviously solve your problem (I say "your", because I don't use search function at all).

Bogdan

Hello Bogdan, reading your post, could you plese facilitate to me a copy of the psr-sx 900/700 service manual? I appreciate very much your help.

Best Regards

Bernardo.
