May be a silly question but what other use do midi files have other than listening to song?

You can play along to them (eg, mute the melody track)

You can sing along to them.

You can practice the song with them.

And you can correct any slips before committing it to wav/mp3 form! In the days when I ventured a song online, that saved my bacon very often.

For example, I use T5 as a MIDI device to listen to MIDI files from a computer. Using a virtual midi cable.
