I’m not into gadgets, buttons, or sliders as much as those colored lights----and bright, colorful screens.  However, I only make the plunge, when hearing the new, or upgraded styles and voices.  That’s the bottom line for me.  I guess any new toy is exciting.  I traded cars a few weeks ago.  A guy asked me...”Can I just stick my head through the door to get a whiff of that new car smell”.

OK, I found it on my hard drive.  It looks like I can create text files for chord progressions. 

Questions:
Is there a user manual for the Chord Looper Editor?

Is there a way (a program) to play the chord progressions on a PSR S970?

Hi Dom,

The MIDI files should also play on the SX700. But note that Registration Bank files (.rgt) are always keyboard-specific and only work on the direct successor models (e.g. Tyros4 > Tyros5 > Genos1 > Genos2). As far as I know, T4, T5 or Genos Registrations do NOT work on PSR-SX models.

However, you could use Murray Best's Yamaha Registration Manager (YRM) to convert the Registration Bank files to SX700 format. Then they should at least be able to load on your SX700. However, manual changes (voices / style / effects) may still have to be made directly on the SX700.

Please note, in order to be compatible with Genos1 and SX Registration Bank files, you need at least YRM version 5.3.

For the sake of completeness: YRM V5.4 is required for Genos2 compatibility. This new version can only be received upon direct request from Murray Best.)

I think it is human to dream of more. Wnat if it could do this and that? And when I look at these keyboards, with all their blinking lights and all the buttons, I think that we who buy them and love them must be at least a little bit gadget-happy! We love to fiddle with knobs, press buttons and exprtiment to get good sound. So, when a mew gadget comes out, that can do more than the former one, well, then the temptation is too much for us Every time I got a new keyboard it inspired me to make some new music. I also imagined that I sounded better, and had become a better musician. Of course, that is to deceive yourself, but, what the heck. I have only one life, and want to have FUN out of it. Savint up for Genos 2.

... I will download converted styles for my PSR900 and every style will have the .- in front of the name and will not load.  But, the very same styles are also present and do not have the .- in front of them. Can someone explain this to me. ...

Hi Hammer,

Such files with ".-" at the beginning of the file name come from a Mac computer. These are Index files (sometimes also called "Metadata" files) that were generated by the Mac OS. Yamaha keyboards cannot do anything with these files or are thereby "confused".

If you work with Windows, you can simply delete these files (only about 1 - 2 KB in size) in Windows Explorer. If you have a Mac, there are several ways to prevent such ".-" files from being written on a USB stick. See also the following threads:
