Recording in cubase directly from Genos involves using track 1 for system information from looking at Tiho video..
Right 1 from channel 2 and so on.
Also for each track you record now in Cubase 13 in inspector there is a letter P  which means project filtering and that should now be checked for each track. In Cubase 12 you had to do it another way.
This is where i am at at the moment and nearly grasping it.
I successfully done multitrack live recording in one go ,so all tracks display but if i imported it back into Genos it did not sound the same.
So now i will try the leave track 1 for information as chnnel 1 carries the info. and see what happens.
As far as using Genos as a controller for Cubase i think that involves mapping and i have not conquered that yet.
I have had a go and touched a slideron Genos and it shows in the mapping part in Cubase.
I am just concentrating on sliders to control the volume in the Cubase mixer.
I two or three showing when i touch the Genos sliders, but things do not go right after that. So, I am at a dead end with that at the moment.
I have written back to Tiho and hopefully he can put me in the right direction as he has done this successfully. clever guy from Bosnia.
It would be great if Yamaha made these scripts, as they say you can fully integrate Genos 2 and Cubase 13.

All the Best
John

Ps i am trying to explain in my way as it is a nasty one to get your head around ;D

I compared the Genos2 + GNS-MS01, SX900 and SX700 at a dealer a few months ago. The Genos2 with the GNS-MS01 sounds better than the SX keyboards with the built-in speakers. But this is to be expected and is primarily due to the sub-woofer of the GNS-MS01. How much better is of course very subjective.

Don't get me wrong, the SX700 and SX900 sound very good. If you connect a sub-woofer to the SX900 or SX700, the difference in sound compared to the GNS-MS01 is, in my opinion, more a matter of personal taste as far as the speakers are concerned.

And of course your age plays a role. In general, by the age of 50, the ability to hear high-pitched sounds has already decreased significantly. The position of the speakers can play a more important role then.

I'm still debating between buying an SX900 or Genos and looking at several criteria.  Does anyone know how the SX900 speaker system compares to the Genos GNS-MS01 system?  (Not an instrument voice comparison but just the speaker systems).
Thank you.

How do the SX900 speakers compare to the Genos GNS-MS01 speaker system?  I'm not talking about the better voices in the Genos but only the actual speaker systems.  Are the SX900 built-in speakers nearly as good in your opinion??

Thank you.

The Next Yamaha Keyboard / Re: Why do we always want more?

I’m not into gadgets, buttons, or sliders as much as those colored lights----and bright, colorful screens.  However, I only make the plunge, when hearing the new, or upgraded styles and voices.  That’s the bottom line for me.  I guess any new toy is exciting.  I traded cars a few weeks ago.  A guy asked me...”Can I just stick my head through the door to get a whiff of that new car smell”.

Yamaha Keyboards - General / Re: Free Chord Looper Banks for download
« Last post by Joe H on Today at 12:43:42 AM »
OK, I found it on my hard drive.  It looks like I can create text files for chord progressions.

Questions:
Is there a user manual for the Chord Looper Editor?

Is there a way (a program) to play the chord progressions on a PSR S970?

Genos Registrations & Playlist / Re: Marcos Mendez Registrations
« Last post by overover on Today at 12:39:20 AM »
Hi.

Loaded them on my SX700 and for some strange reason non of them work. The keyboard recognizes them but does not load them.

Hi Dom,

The MIDI files should also play on the SX700. But note that Registration Bank files (.rgt) are always keyboard-specific and only work on the direct successor models (e.g. Tyros4 > Tyros5 > Genos1 > Genos2). As far as I know, T4, T5 or Genos Registrations do NOT work on PSR-SX models.

However, you could use Murray Best's Yamaha Registration Manager (YRM) to convert the Registration Bank files to SX700 format. Then they should at least be able to load on your SX700. However, manual changes (voices / style / effects) may still have to be made directly on the SX700.

Please note, in order to be compatible with Genos1 and SX Registration Bank files, you need at least YRM version 5.3.

For the sake of completeness: YRM V5.4 is required for Genos2 compatibility. This new version can only be received upon direct request from Murray Best.)

Best regards,
Chris
