Nope, I don't do both, only Country. I'm not from Texas.  ;D

LOL :D If the singer can't sing with a karaoke type of set up, there is no way they are going to stay in time with you using your keyboard with styles.

It reads in big letters "If it isn't COUNTRY, it ain't MUSIC".

Amen. Back in Jersey, I led a group of folks from the music ministry who wanted to do rock at socials, etc. I had to use backing tracks to fill in the missing instruments, most notably drums.

All of them were pretty decent vocalists when we could close up the timing slop in church. But, sing with a backing track??? I kept telling them, "You've got to be on time. When the bus pulls out, it pulls out with or without you!" Eventually, they did better and I still think it helped them tighten up the timing in church, too.

Uhhhh, you don't do "Western", too?  :D

Take care -- pj

P.S. Congregations are always, dependably late. They are incorrigible.

Hi All.

As promised, I did say that I would provide a status of this issue once Yamaha touched base with me.

Well, I have to say that today I had a very pleasant phone conversation with the Technology Product Manager in Canada and he has assured me that Yamaha is very interested in replicating and understanding the details associated with this issue.

In fact CS Group Quality Assurance Department Musical Instruments Business Unit Yamaha Corporation of Japan is involved and seeking basically answers to questions that we have all documented in this post.   I provided the link to this post for their documentation gathering and analysis.

One of their ask was to help them identify how to break the search that I was sooo good at doing before. Now, (as previously stated)  I kind of kick myself in the butt that I deleted those ".-E*" 2005 Balken styles without taking a backup for this particular reason as it is more than obvious that once they were deleted off all my USBs, at least on my keyboard, immediately I was unable to break the search again.  Not sure if I mentioned, I have to assume that they were created on a Tyros 1 or 2 judging from the TY suffix and the release dates of 2002 -2005?

So at least for now, we can give Yamaha credit for taking interest!!   Thanks You Yamaha Canada and Japan Corp.

         Regards dom.

LOL :D

If the singer can't sing with a karaoke type of set up, there is no way they are going to stay in time with you using your keyboard with styles.

It threw me when I first got the keyboard on a few songs. I was used to jumping back in a half measure early on a couple songs.

Just this week at a gig one woman was kidding with me as I was setting up and ask me what kind of music do you play? I laughed and several other folks did as well as I simply pointed the sign hanging beneath my keyboard. It reads in big letters "If it isn't COUNTRY, it ain't MUSIC".

She laughed and then ask, do you do any gospel songs? I replied, "Do see 3 more guys standing around?". Again everyone had a chuckle, including her.

Oh, but WAIT I said. I do have ONE song, but you have to sing one line for me in the song. YOU will know the one line and when YOUR line comes, YOU have to sing it. She said okay.

So, I started the gig with the song "Daddy Sang Bass". Of course her one line was "Momma sang tenor" and she knew it BUT came in really late every time. It totally threw me and the style off, I just held the Fill in button to reset so I knew where to jump in to continue each time. I simply looked at her at the end of the song and said, "We need just a bit more practice, I think." Everyone had a laugh.  ;D

In church the congregation tends to sing a little slow, drag the words a bit. That’s a different problem, and as you say, playing organ, it’s not hard to just match them or sometimes push them a little to stay on time by just banging out the melody.

Can you remind me where to load the files into my Genos please

Genos Reference Manual, pages 13 through 18.

Touch the big rectangle at the top of the Chord Looper screen in order to load a Chord Looper Bank (CLB).

Touch the Import button to import a new Chord Looper Data (CLD) file into a CLB.

Hope this helps -- pj

Hello Dom

Try saving USER 1 to a different name, if you haven't already done so.

e.g. DOM"S SETTING. Just a thought

You can’t ship it in, you would have to carry it in personally to have any chance of avoiding duties and taxes. And for me the price difference would need to be awfully big to be worth that kind of trouble, especially since even bringing it in personally has a risk - admittedly small - of being charged anyway, if it is obviously new.
And be careful with published prices, make sure there are no additional local taxes and extras to be added in.
I got caught out buying wine last year in Italy. I bought two cases because they told me each of us had an allowance of 12 bottles, it was great wine, the price was fair, but then they added about 20% on for local tax, and added shipping charges. It took two weeks for it to arrive in the country. And then the shipping company refused to deliver it until I paid another 25% or thereabouts for UK taxes. Turned out the allowance only works if you carry it personally.
The money was a nuisance, no big deal, although it probably made the price way more than it was worth. But the real pest was it took lots of phone calls and paperwork when I got back to get it cleared and delivered by the shipping company. And then they didn’t leave it, because we were out , since it’s alcohol and they insisted a person over 21 be there to sign for it. I had to drive in to their depot in the city, and bring it home myself.
Great wine but not worth the hassle. Didn’t even get to drink most of it, because my family all thought it looked interesting and each took a few bottles home. >:(
