My site - check link in footer - is mobile friendly designed. All components keep their size, no zooming required and no "hard to hit" links to click...

IMO it can be done! And it would be really, really nice!

The BIG change is a move to a bigger, newer, server with more RAM, more CPU, and more hard drive space. That new server has been setup and testing is still underway. When complete, the domain name (psrtutorial.com) will be changed to point to the new server. You should see no difference from what is on the current server, assuming everything gets transferred over OK. I'm still waiting for that final step to be completed.

Post by: Joe W on January 30, 2018, 07:28:21 AM: It is now 6:17 pm (EST) on Monday, Jan 29. Hopefully, we are now done with the transition to the new server. The new URL was changed this morning to point to the new server. It took awhile for that new address to filter through to all the domain name servers on the internet. Next problem was that the SSL (secure sockets layer) certificate that I had on the old server was not transferred to the new server. That meant if you tried to access us using https, you got a warning that the sight was not secure. It certainly is secure and when the certificate was transferred over to the new server, that problem disappleared. However, while the main site worked fine, access to the forum was no longer working. Some problem with "permissions" was discovered and corrected. Finally, secure access to the forum on the new server worked, but we were missing several days of messages that were added to the old system after the forum databases were copied. There was a solution available here that re-synched the database. While that was done, I put the forum in maintenance mode. Finally, heard that forum databases were ready, but now could not access the forum at all. Another call to Lunarpages. I don't know what that problem was, but they were able to correct it in a couple of minutes.

So, I hope that we are once more up and running smoothly on the new server. Only time will tell....

One question... the times on the forum look off. Under my name at the top, it says "January 29, 2018, 11:58:24 PM" but my correct local time is actually 15:48. Do we need to do something in our profile to fix the times?

I also see that LIKE is not working correctly. I'll have to put in a separate ticket on that.

There is an auto detect time zone feature in profile settings. Profile>Modify profile>Look and layout. BTW it is not 100% accurate.

Besides the "like" button, which I never really wanted anyhow, not working, was there a change on the time of log in????
When I used to log in the time frame was 10 hours behind my local time. Now the time is 2 hours behind my local time.
Am 2 hours ahead of time posted. Why the change of time frame?? This message will post 11.58 am.

Generally, these were caused by the new server having a newer operating system and newer versions of some software. The Spell Check feature had disappeared. We discovered the problem and that was fixed. The LIKE feature did not work. Turns out, it was incompatible with version PHP 7, which is on the new server. We were able to find a solution that patched up that problem and Like is once more working correctly. There was also a problem with some download links that was discovered, and then fixed. There was confusion on the time factor as well. Consider the server as being set to GMT. Your time offset would be based on the number of hours different between your time and GMT time. So, as far as I know now, all the know problems have been resolved and there should be smooth sailing ahead!

The GMT offset for Safed, Israel, is plus 2 hours (+2), which can be set by modifying your profile under the "Look and Layout" settings. Don't rely on (auto detect) to display the correct time, as it doesn't always function correctly.

I just modified your time offset for you. I didn't even need to use any "soap". ;)

Please let me know if your time is now displaying properly. :)

Thanks so much Roger for doing the fixups on my profile.
Will have to readjust to new time on the forum. I used to figure 10 hours ahead of folks on the west coast. Now should be 8 hours
from the readjusted time , and a whole new CLEAN slate.
BTW,, Can log in right away on my tablet, but still have to sign in manually here on the computer. But not a huge problem or
issue. Joe has done a wonderful job, corralling all these bugs. So appreciate of your help,,, now what about my drain pipes+++?
