Indeed, now we are closer than ever to legendary engine on our arranger,.. give us just little more to it, please 😋
I also think it's totally idiotic that you don't have a way of importing at least a standard DX7 compatible sysex file into the YEM and make your own DX sound pack.
The problem is that Yamaha knows that just about ALL the DX7 sounds That people know and loves that was used up thru the 80's and 90's in countless of pop music titles is from the standard factory banks released with the instrument, as very few people ever knew and understood how to program an FM sound.
I actually used an old Atari program to experiment with FM Synthese, and the Larger display that was introduced with the TX-802 actually had at least a reasonable but still cumbersome way of editing the settings once you got around how each operator setting changed the sound of a certain layout. And when I got my Korg Kronos i actually had fun with loading some of my old self made sounds and editing the more advanced settings of the MoD7 engine and adding effects.
The editing is not bad if you know just a tad about FM and can be done in the free Dexed vst much easier than in the old days, and there still is a TON of DX sysex banks floating around the net. I think I have more than 50.000 sounds on the PC ( I havn't been thru very many of them tho
) .. but why not give the people that want to go this deep the ability of loading a bank of 32 sounds via sysex and make their own exp. pack.
I still hope Yamaha will enable this along tha way.
But Yamaha seriously need to totally redo the YEM software. It still looks like software released prior to 1990 for a 640x480 Monitor.
I wouldn't mind paying for a decent software that Yamaha licensed a serious software company to do
Just as much as I would gladly pay a premium price for a Strings SA Sound pack from Spitfire ... just accept it Yamaha you have no clue of making strings sounds ...
