Music Finder
« on: October 24, 2017, 03:41:55 PM »
Hi Guys,

I understand that the Genos no longer has Music Finder. Its been mentioned that Playlist will replace this.
I have really enjoyed Music Finder on the Tyros models over the years.
Can anyone tell me if the Playlist feature will have song titles with a suggested style or am I going to have to build my own registrations for about 1500 songs in the Music Finder list?
Sounds like a lot of work, Id rather be playing.

Thanks
Rick D.

Hi Rick,

you can use your Music Finder files (.mfd) in Genos:

(Quote from ---> Genos Product Guide, Page 39)

Music Finder Files

Music Finder files are converted to Registration Banks in the Genos and can be used immediately.

1. Save the Music Finder file to a USB stick.
2. Connect the USB stick to the Genos and select Playlist.
3. Click on the File Selection Box and chose the respective Music Finder file from the USB stick.

Every entry is converted to a Registration Bank with the name of the Music Finder record.

A Playlist File is also created and saved to the USB stick.

Best regards,
Chris

Thanks  Chris,

I guess I missed the part about them being converted.

That makes me feel better!

Thanks again.

Basic question - sorry if it seems dumb but:

How do you save the Musicfinder files on Tyros 5 to a USB stick?

What size of USB stick is needed to save the Musicfinder files on?

Beginners step by step guide (idiots guide) might prove helpful to myself and others.

I really enjoy using Musicfinder because it allows me to sit down and play many songs almost instantly without having to think about choosing suitable registrations. It is a quick and easy process.

Gurus please assist with information and ideas and excuse my ignorance.

From the PSR FAQ (http://psrtutorial.com/lessons/faq/PSRFAQ.htm )

G.2.    How to save a MusicFinder File

Open the music finder and click the Files button at the bottom. Depress Copy and tab to the desired location and then Paste.

Alternatively, use Function/Utility/Reset and depress the MusicFinder button on the right side of the screen. Tab to the location (E.g. User , USB) and use the Save button.

Michael

Thank you Michael for solving  my problem in double quick time too. Also thank you for the link to FAQ in the lessons section. I shall have a close look at that.

And thank you Rick D. too.

It may be a deciding factor in a decision to buy Genos.
