List of new Genos styles and voices (vs. T5)
« on: October 20, 2017, 06:35:21 AM »
Hi --

My OCD has taken over, and I've obsessively watched every video and made a list of the new styles and voices.

The list is at: http://sandsoftwaresound.net/genos-has-landed/

The list should be current through October 20 and includes stuff from the Reidys video.

Of course, I will stop updating the list once we have the Data List PDF.  :D

Please feel free to post new styles and voices to this thread as you see them.

Thanks -- pj

Seems a project with a lot of expected growth..

There is 2 more things i would like to know, outside just the new sounds and styles
A) what sounds and styles are also innone of the expansion packs?
B) what styles from the T5 have dissapeared?
Keyszone.boards.net for all the latest keyboard news and information.

Informative list, pj, thanks.

A) I would think that the expansion styles and voices (in the conversion process) would in essence remain the same, but upgraded or reworked to sound better or take advantages of the Genos resources and increased audio quality.

B) My take is that "all" the Genos styles are completely new or completely reprogramming for similar style/type Tyros5/S-970 style names and OTS. Isn't this better having more than 500 brand new Genos styles, and then copy over or modified the Tyros 5 styles? Nothing is lost and nothing is better.

Hi

I do not know whether this has been asked yet.

Does the Genos have a legacy folder where all the Tyros 5 sounds will be housed.

All the Best

Good, Eileen. I read that the T5 to Genos conversion is pretty seamless. Let's hope so. I think Yamaha knows that a lot of customers use their T5s to make a living or are at least very busy players and can't afford a lot of down time to make the conversion.

If this can be confirmed .. . .  one more step towards upgrading from T5 to Genos.

Good day all.

This statement can be found in the Genos guide. All T5 content will be read and converted to corresponding Genos content.

Am I reading this wrong?  So the Genos will apply new Genos voices to a Tyros 5 style?  And NOT assign the original Tyros 5 Legacy folder voices??   -charley

Hi Jørgen and all --

Now that the Geno Data List PDF is out, I pulled together a Motif XF vs. Montage vs. Genos comparison chart for non-synth voices:

http://sandsoftwaresound.net/first-analysis-genos-voices/

I'm always curious about what is really new in a keyboard because that makes or breaks my update/upgrade decisions. I also know that a lot of people are considering Montage vs. Genos. The chart might help them out.

Yamaha's sometimes cryptic naming (to avoid copyright issues) and renaming make this task difficult, especially across product lines.

All the best -- pj
