line out settings
« on: June 08, 2016, 05:59:45 AM »
Hi
            Tyros 3...plus Tascam dp24 sd.

I was hoping someone could tell me why when I set an instrument to a main or sub line out
I quite often get another instrument sound as well .
I have tried many times to set ....bass drum....snare....hihat.....and bass guitar ,to allow me
to record these instruments separately using a tascam dp 24 sd. with four active tracks set ready to record.
What I end up with is bass on one track.
snare on another ,all good.
but the bass drum ends up on 2 tracks plus the hihat....how can that happen.
on the line out screen I have the bass.bass drum.snare.and hihat output to different cables via the line outs.
To be honest I am bit confused as the Manual has only one page.
Any help please.
Thanks in advance.
Darkcloud.

Hi darkcloud,

one reason that you get a different sound when using the Sub outs is:

At the Sub outs only the so called "System effects" can be used (the REVERB and CHORUS effect blocks and DSP1, if setted as a "System effect").

This means that all INSERT effects (DSP2 - ... and DSP1, if setted as an "Insert effect") will NOT be outputted over the Sub outs.

The other thing is: All internal Voices are in STEREO. When you use TWO (2) Sub outs for a instrument, you will get the same (STEREO) sound (but without the Insert DSPs that this Voice "originally" uses). When you use only ONE Sub Out for a certain instrument, it will sound only in MONO (and therefore it will sound different to the original STEREO sound).

Hope this helps!

Regards,

Chris

Thats very helpful  chris

Thanks , just a thought maybe there is a way to change the drum s to mono output
Seems like that would solve the problem.
I will look in to this some more.
thanks again chris.

Hi darkcloud,

when you use only ONE (1) Sub out  for a (Drum) instrument or another certain Part/Voice, the sound is automatically "converted" to MONO.

So you will hear both channels (Left & Right) in any case, but just summed to one MONO channel (and, as mentioned above, slightly different in sound).

Chris
