chords in the left hand
« on: January 12, 2016, 07:06:55 AM »
Hi
what is the best position on the keyboard when using your left hand so that changing chords is easy i.e less movement ? (fake book user)

Any help would be appreciated.

many thanks

Many people, including me, play chord inversions between the two Fs below middle C.

G is the root chord, G-B-D, but C is G-C-E, F is A-C-F, etc.

This is a common technique taught to people when they learn how to "fake" the left hand, likely because it involves the least hand movement. It's also probably why the default split point is F#2.

Hi Fred,
many thanks for your quick reply .
Fred have you done video's on registrations? I have purchased one but I find they touch buttons but no matter how many times I re-run I cannot see what they are doing.(understand files and registrations( Glyn Madden)

I hope you not mind me asking how have you gained all your knowledge and did you start at a young age, your comments are most welcomed.

Hi Danny,

Here's a fine section on PSRTutorial about Registrations. You'll find it very useful:

I regularly consult the pages on PSRTutorial. It all starts here:

Hello Danny,

I found a few interesting things in my archives that may help you.
Some chord charts and a little executable program that helps you make chords, root and inverse positions.
With sound!

It is a rar- file, so you need to unzip it before you can use it. Here's the link:

Have fun,
