(Jul, 2009) Hello to everyone. My name is David and my wife and I live in a city just north of Worcester (pronounced Wos-ter) in the state of Massachusetts.
Musical Background: I have been playing music since the age of 14, when I purchased my first organ with my paper route money. It was a used Kimball organ with 2 keyboards and pedals and I knew I wanted to really learn how to play it. I started private lessons with a local teacher and continued on until I was about 22, when work got in the way.
Lucky for me I worked in a music store that sold Hammond organs, so I got to see all the latest keyboards and had a blast trying out all the sounds. I got to practice songs while also learning how to use the new organ features - and I got paid to do it. I did some playing professionally for a short while at private parties, which was good money at the time.
Eventually, the music business went south so I got a "real" job in municipal government that, 28 years later, I am still doing! I now play for my own enjoyment and for family. We still have a Hammond Aurora Classic, but I seem to only play my new Tyros 3 now. I added bass pedals and edited some bass voices for it and they sound great. I have had seven different Yamaha keyboards and I think that the Tyros 3 is the best. I can make it sound like my Hammond Organ, but so much more too.
I love most music, but really like to play big band, jazz, standards and latin tunes. It is so much fun to find a rhythm, style and voices that fit the song you are playing. I then store the settings in the Music Finder so it is always ready whenever you want it. No more writing setting and notes all over my music. I wish I had more time to practice and play my T3, I seem to get rusty really fast if I don't.
I hope you enjoy some of the songs I have recorded and placed on this great site. I have learned so much from reading the posts here and listening to many of the songs sent in by so many of you talented people. I have a lot of ideas for songs, now I just have to make the time to practice and play them. Enjoy!
Note: Dave sold his Tyros3 and moved up to the Tyros4 in January, 2011.

10-23-2010 -- Alfie (Tyros3) I was messing around the other day with some of the Vocal styles and voices and thought that some went well with the song Alfie. I know its been done here before but this is a little different take on this tune using the premium vocal styles and sounds on my T3. I hope you enjoy this light hearted approach to this Burt Bacharach tune.
10-24-2009 -- Angel Eyes (Tyros3)
03-26-2009 -- A Day In The Life Of A Fool (Tyros2) Hi All, After listening to many of the songs on this site, I decided to try to convert a few of my T2 songs on Hard Disk to MP3 format. Well, I just did my first one and it seems to work fine. It is not perfect but it was a lot of fun making it. This is my first try so I hope it works out OK and that you enjoy listening to it. Let me know what you think. Musically yours, David
08-09-2009 -- Dindi (Tyros3) Greetings All, Well, I have had my new vocal & Choir pack for a few days and decided to send off these 2 demo songs so you could get an idea of how they work. The first one is On the Sunny Side of the Street. I used the new A Capella style and new vocal OTS for this one. The second one is Dindi, which uses the new 60'sBossaNova style and OTS settings. Hopefully, they will give you an idea on what you might like to try once you get yours! I had fun putting them together and hope you find them Fun and Interesting. Regards, David
07-30-2009 -- The Fox (Tyros3) Hello All, I wanted to thank Joe for putting up the two mp3's that I forgot to email with my original posting last week. He is awesome and works behind the scenes for us so quickly. Lets face it, without his efforts this site would not be. The Fox and You've Changed are in my midi file section but somehow I left them out of the mp3's that I sent for my jukebox. Hope you all enjoy them. Regards, David
06-01-2011 -- Girl From Ipanema (Tyros4)
10-24-2009 -- Happy Together (Tyros3)
03-27-2009 -- Holiday For Strings (Tyros2) Hello Again, Well, you asked for it! Here is another song recorded on my T2 that I converted to MP3 format. I have really enjoyed listening to many of the recording posts on here and decided to see if anyone would like some of mine. Thanks again for all the nice compliments and I hope you enjoy this one too. Musically, David
06-01-2011 -- I'm A Fool To Want You (Tyros4)
06-01-2011 -- I've Got A Crush On You (Tyros4) Wel,l after my last post I decided to calm things down a bit by posting I've Got A Crush on You. I used the DreamyBallad style with a tweaked OTS for this smooth ballad, which I hope will calm down all of you that may have just listened to my Nine to Five posting.
08-24-2009 -- If I Didn't Have You (Tyros3) Greetings All, I was playing with my T3 styles the other day and came across a new one called MovieSwing1. After trying it out, it so reminded me of the Movie Theme from Monsters Inc. If I Didn't Have You is the name of this light and fun piece by Randy Newman. (He also does the theme from Monk on TV.) Well, I couldn't resist, so here is my take on that theme using the MovieSwing1 style and OTS settings. I hope you like it. Regards, David
09-18-2009 -- In Dreams (Tyros3) Greetings All, I was playing around with the Ethereal style on my T3 and thought of this Theme from the Lord of the Rings. The song In Dreams is from the Breaking for the Fellowship from the first movie of the trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien. I think the movies done by Peter Jackson were awesome and this theme weaves its way throughout all three. The Ethereal Style has no "rhythm" and is free flowing, just like the theme In Dreams. I start off with the flute voice, change to the Irish Air Pipes and then to Concert Strings. I end with strings and horns in a short reprise of the last part of the song. Not sure this is for everyones liking, but I thought I would share it with all of you and see what you think. Regards, David
10-23-2009 -- In the Wee Small Hours (Tyros3) Hi All, I came across this tune while listening to a Barry Manilow tribute to Frank Sinatra album. I thought that the new DreamyBallad style went really well so here is my version. I hope you enjoy it.
06-01-2011 -- Laughter In The Rain (Tyros4) I forgot that I had recorded this 70's Neil Sedaka song so I decided to add it to my list of songs on here. I use the 8BeatModern Style on the T4 with the One Touch settings. Just a nice reminder of some of the cool music of the 70's.
06-01-2011 -- Look Of Love, The (Tyros4)
10-07-2009 -- Love Boat Theme (Tyros3) Hello All, I was trying some more of my T3 styles and came across this 70's Disco like one that really reminds me of the theme from the Love Boat. You know, love, exciting and new, come aboard we're expecting you! So, here is my version of that TV show song that sold us on how great cruising was and that the rooms were Huge and had normal doors and tons of space! I hope you enjoy this one. Regards, David
06-01-2011 -- Mam'Selle (Tyros4) Hope some of you remember this oldie! I used the new OrchestralBallad and OTS for this sweet tune.
11-04-2009 -- Magnificent Seven (Tyros3) Hey All, I came across the WildWest Style a while back and knew there was a song it reminded me of. Well, I finally found it and recorded it on the T3 with that style and some OTS changes. I hope you like this one. It sure was a lot of fun putting it together. YEEE HAWWW. Regards, David
03-28-2009 -- Moon River (Tyros2) Greetings All, All I can say is "Thank You" very much for all the nice comments you have been sending my way. It is nice to know that others appreciate my music, and of course the fantastic Tyros 2. I have been playing the keyboard for 40 years now (YIKES) starting on the Hammond Organ. So it is no big mystery why I use a lot of Organ voices in my tunes. I wish I had more time to practice! I am working on an organ type arrangement of several songs using my T2 with a set of bass pedals. I even created a pretty good Organ bass pedal voice with sustain for the bass pedals. I will send a sample along when I finally get it done to see what you think. Meanwhile, here are 2 more of my MP3's. I listen to a few new tunes each time I log on to this site, and you all are doing a great job. Keep up the good work and the great music. The first one is Tara's Theme and the second one is Moon River. Enjoy! Regards, David
06-01-2011 -- Never On Sunday (Tyros4) I was checking out some of my user section styles and came across the OrganChaCha, which I thought would be perfect for Never on Sunday. Many years ago a very good friend and professional artist named Tom Thompson did a concert locally and I heard this tune with some different things going on. Although I can not play like Tom, I hope that I remembered enough of his arrangement to transpose over to the Tyros 4 with the OrganChaCha style. He did a unique transpose from the key of G to the Key of Eb, which I think you will notice, followed by a style change from Latin to Ballad, and then back again! I hope you enjoy listening to this arrangement as much as I did playing it.
06-01-2011 -- Nine To Five (Tyros4) Here is something a bit different from me! I heard this Dolly Parton song and I wanted to give it a try on the T4. I used the DiscoFoxStyle and tweaked the OTS a bit. Watch out if you don't like driving 4 beat bass and drums in the morning! LOL
08-12-2009 -- Old Cape Codd (Tyros3)
04-12-2009 -- Once Upon A December (Tyros2) Hi Everyone, I found this song the other day and it seemed to go well with the GuitarSerenade that I had used with Moon River, so I recorded it on my T2. I did slow down the tempo a bit as recordings of the actual song seem to go a bit to fast I think. I hope you enjoy it.
06-01-2011 -- Paradise Café (Tyros4) I have finally made some time to try and record a song on my new T4. I decided to try the Barry Manilow Tune, Paradise Cafe. It is a blues type song and I used the new 40'sSwing style with it. The style really seems to fit right in with the song. I also tried some of the new voices with the one touch settings. I hope you like the song.
06-01-2011 -- Put'tin' On The Ritz (Tyros4) I just had to find a song to play with the French50's style, and I thought that Put'tin on the Ritz was a good candidate! This Irving Berlin tune has been in many movies from Fred Astaire to Gene Wilder (Young Frankenstein) and introduced in a movie of the same name many years ago. I took the whimsical route using the French50's style and tweaked OTS to hopefully create a fun and entertaining rendition of this tune. I hope you enjoy it.
03-31-2009 -- Real Live Girl (Tyros2) Hello All, I am starting to have a blast working on things to place on here. I finally got through my "organ version" of Real Live Girl. I am playing this on my T2 using "organ settings" for the right and left hand, and a custom bass voice for the Midi Base Pedals I have attached to the T2. This is my first attempt to show that the T2 can be played like an organ if you wish, with no additional rhythms or styles. It's a "solo" rendition of the song and I hope you all like it. For those of you who play or did play the organ, this song is a Bill Irwin Arrangement from his pop concert series. I hope you enjoy it. Musically yours, David
10-24-2009 -- Samba De Orfeu (Tyros3)
04-19-2009 -- Shadow Of Your Smile (Tyros2) Greetings All, Found this Latin song and thought I might try recording it on the T2. Hope you like it.
10-23-2010 -- Stormy Weather (Tyros3) Well, I finally got around to recording another Bill Irwin concert series arrangement. As usual, I used many different organ combinations and my MIDI Pedals. Many have asked me about using one keyboard to play these numbers and if they require multi recording. I play them straight and used the presets to control the sounds as well as the position of the keyboard splits. If not for the presets I would not be able to get the right hand, left hand and pedals done right. I do not do multi recording at this time, but I know it would help a lot! Thanks to all of you who have encouraged me to convert these great arrangements to the Tyros. I hope you enjoy this tune.
06-01-2011 -- The Summer Knows (Tyros4) The Summer Knows is a great tune in which there are quite a few "pedal point" changes that are needed to make the song sound correct. I decided to set my MIDI Base pedals to HOLD the bass notes so that the chord would not cause problems and change the bass notes around. I also decided to freshen up the song using the ContemPopBallad Style with some OTS tweeks.
11-02-2009 -- Summer Samba (Tyros3) Hey All, I added the song Summer Samba to my MP3's that Joe added to my jukebox here. This is a Bill Irwin organ arrangement of this cool latin song that actually uses a bossa nova rhythm and an interesting take off middle section. Many have asked about the Bill IRwin arrangements and so I decided to add them as I can. Let me know what you think. Regards, David
08-09-2009 -- Sunny Side Of The Street (Tyros3) (See Dindi comments above.)
03-28-2009 -- Tara's Theme (Tyros2) (see Moon River comments above.)
09-14-2010 -- Tenderly (Tyros3) It sure has been a while, but I have created a new MP3 of the song Tenderly. I play it on my T3 using all organ voicing with my midi bass pedals.
04-15-2009 -- There Goes My Heart (Tyros2) Hi Gang, Here is a tune my wife liked, so I added in some organ sounds and thought it would be a good one to record on my T2. I like the little bounce the tune has and I hope you think so too.
07-19-2009 -- Tico Tico (Tyros3) Hey All, I finally got around to trying my Ethel Smith version of Tico Tico on my T3 today. I like the OrganSamba style with this one. Hope you like it too. Regards, David
04-05-2009 -- Unforgettable (Tyros2) Greetings All, I was just going through my music folder and found this Nat King Cole tune that I recorded a while ago. I think that the MidnightSwing on the T2 goes very well with this song. I hope you all find it enjoyable. This part of the forum post has become one of my favorites. I really enjoy listening to all the songs posted here. Keep up the good work everyone!
07-30-2009 -- You've Changed (Tyros3) (See comments under The Fox above.)
