(Aug, 2008) My name is Bill Venice and I was born in London over 70 years ago -- well over! I first started on
the entertainment road when I was nine years of age being taught the ukelele by my uncle. I then graduated to the guitar.
In the late forties I joined the Royal Air Force playing the guitar in a number of bands both in England and the Middle East in between being in the RAF police. After leaving the RAF in the early fifties I played in a number of local outfits finally playing at Butlins holiday camp at Clacton, Essex.
In 1960, my wife and I formed a vocal/comedy duo touring nightclubs and northern working mens clubs with summer seasons in Yarmouth, Weymouth, and Jersey (Channel Islands) and various American and British air force bases in Germany. During the course of our 20 or so years on the circuits, we worked alongside many great artists of the time including Johnny Ray, Bob Monkhouse, Val Donavan, The Seekers and many others.
It all came to a tragic end when my wife died of cancer in 1978 and, at the time, I vowed I would never work in the entertainment business again and then … I met my present wife, who persuaded me to resume in the music business. However, I could not get back to the guitar so I turned to the keyboard, graduating from the small PSR to the Tyros 2 that I now have.
