Inserting images or attachments in the mail part of this forum
« on: February 24, 2019, 01:18:57 PM »
Hi all,

I receive the occasional private email message from within this forum, like everyone else. When I reply, how do I attach a file or insert an image? When I click "Image," all I get is the HTML 5 tags "[image] [/image]". What do I do after that? Thanks...

- Lee
"Learn" your music correctly, then "practice" it. Don't practice mistakes because you'll learn them.

I don't think the PM function is set to upload and/or transfer files or insert images unless you have it stored at the web, i.e. at a online disk or pics at i.e. TinyPic.
Then you can add a URL to that file into your message. Or, even better, use ordinary email.
Cheers 🥂

Thanks for the replies, guys. I find all forum PMs to be SO cumbersome to use. They require several convoluted moves to just reply or send. I much prefer if the forums would just list all the email addresses of those who don't mind sharing them. That way, we could look someone up and use a regular email client to make contact. Forum PMs are a joke.

Thanks again!

Every member's Email address is listed in their profile.  If you wish to contact a member via email rather than the Private Messaging system, simply click on their Avatar and you will find their Email address, provided they have allowed other members to contact them in this manner.  :)

One of the things I allow on my forum is to send Zip Files of Styles etc. Don't get any problems and some members don't always want things on the general forum.

Sorry lee and Toril
it looks like the Moderators have disabled all pm uploads
for some reason, YET they allow you to post images publicly ?
Strange its available on all other forums.
sorry about that

You can still upload a file on your personal Dropbox or google drive etc.
and insert the URL address for the person to download what you want to share in personal messages,as Gunnar Jonny already said.

The same procedure we do when we upload covers.

It may not be as easy as downloading directly from your PC but maybe this site cannot handle all the uploads we could do.
There is always a limitation on gigabytes and don't forget how many members we are and this is a free site supported just by donations.

Thanks for the replies, everyone.

Roger--never thought of that. Thanks :)!
Nice graphics, Meriam! Thank you for your efforts.
Good idea, Eileen.

After all your kind replies, I think my best route is to use the Avatar->email address of the person and just side-step the PM function. Other than that, the forum software by Simple Machines is absolutely stellar.

Edit  Oops...forgot to thank Panos:). Thanks Panos!
