Mix between style and Multipads
« on: January 30, 2019, 05:51:05 AM »

On the prs-970 i remember there was a function you could assign to a live knob, which allowed you to mix(crossfade) between style tracks and multipads, i had a lot of fun with this when playtesting the 970..  very usefull for EDM..

I can't find that function in the Genos live controll?

Am i missing something, or didn't this function make it to Genos?

It should be there.
If I understand correctly hit the "knob assign" button 3X to the third row.
Knob 4 and 5 will fade different parts of the style.
You can ad Multi Pads, but as far as I know they keep playing.
So the Style slowly fades until only the Multi Pad remains.
I use that feature for what you mentioned.
I still have the S970.
If you remember what it is called I could check...

I just read the PSR 970 refference manual
It took me some time to figure out it was as simple as using the "Ballance style/multipad" knob..

And yes i realise i can do this on Genos with direct controll over 2 sliders..
But a single knob that worked like a crossover worked much better

Hi Bachus,

The assignable functions list starting on page 129 of the 'Genos Reference Manual' seems to suggest that if you assign the 'Balance' function to a knob or slider, you can open a pop up box at the bottom of the display which allows you to select the 2 parts that you want to balance.

I can't check this out myself, but hopefully Style and Multi Pad are available in this for selection.

Here is what the manual says about the Balance function...

Balance:    Adjusts the volume balance between parts A and B. You can select which parts belong to A or B in
the pop-up window called up via [Balance Setting] at the bottom of this display.

Hi Bachus,
I guess I have not tried this feature yet.
Looks like something new to explore.  ;D
Thanks for pointing it out.
Thanks Ian for finding it in the reference manual  ;)

Thanks Ian.. its even better..
I misread, when it said a&b my dumb side concluded it was song related

Its incredible.. you can add any source with a volume parameter to either a or b..
Sonot only style and multipads.. but also voices..
So you can have a piano on A and strings and pads on b (r1 to r3) and crossfade between them

Its great living in Genos country, discovering new things every day..
