Complete noob question
« on: November 23, 2018, 06:40:14 PM »
Coming from my previous thread: http://www.psrtutorial.com/forum/index.php/topic,47533.0.html

Forgive my stupidity for a rhetorical question, say I theoretically buy the PSR-S770, can I load the PSR-S970 styles in without having to do any revoicing? Surely the 90 extra styles don't use whatever's in the 159(?) extra voices? Or is this what Yamaha does to get me to buy the S970?

Thanks in advance  :-X

You can use any style without revoicing. The keyboard will just substitute what it thinks is best.

When you disagree with its choice, that’s when you need to rebooted.

Fred.

Will it keep changing if I keep rebooting the keyboard?

Not if you have saved the changes to the style. Do all the changes you want, save as a new style.

There are folks here that convert every Yamaha style into something that will work on an S770 keyboard. Plus there are thousands of previous styles here for you to use on an S770 keyboard that came from all the previous Yamaha keyboards.

Genos and Tyros series have some Doo Woop voices (1950's stuff) that you will not have anything on your keyboard to replace those kind of voices. But if you take the time you can use one of the Chorus Voices that you have on the keyboard and record your own track into the style as a replacement.

If you are really into learning what the PSR, Genos and Tyros keyboards can do, there is no limit to what you yourself can create in the way of custom sounding styles. ;)

Regards
Drake

Sorry, "rebooting" is autocorrect for "revoicing".
