Metal Guitars for Genos v2.0
« on: October 23, 2018, 02:56:44 PM »
Hi friends,
this is my new collection of distortion guitars using the JazzCombo DSP discussed IN THIS THREAD, that I have configured at my personal taste. This DSP is available also on Tyros 5, SX900 and S970/975. Some voices, however, could not load properly on these arrangers because 60sGuitars are Genos exclusive actually. The pack contains 12 guitars. Enjoy  :)

Hi everyone,
this is my collection of 10 electric guitars good for hard rock and metal. I tried to manage all RealDistortion DSP parameters to get the best sounding result.
This pack MAY work on Tyros5 (and maybe on some PSR S-Series), but not properly, because some voice / DSP won't be available as exclusive of Genos.

Best regards

Francesco

Hi Rogrigo,

This pack comes with 7 .SAR files (correspond to SA/SA2 voice files), 2 .CLV files (non SA voice files), and 1 .VCE file (voice set file).

The above voice files were edits of existing preset voices on Genos.

Jørgen Sørensen's following web page explains how these voice files can be created:
http://www.jososoft.dk/yamaha/articles/voices.htm

Thanks,
Paul

I can't quite work out how to get this pack into YEM?

Run Yamaha Expansion Manager 2.5.2.
On the left hand side near the top, click the '+' button of My Packs, select "Import Pack".
Navigate through the popped up Windows Explorer to where you store the "SoundTrack_Genos.ppf" file and select that file to import the pack into YEM.

Thanks,
Paul

I mixed up the SoundTrack pack and the Metal Guitar.

The Metal Guitar voices are not in an expansion pack.  When you unzip the zip file, there are a bunch of voice files.

Create a sub folder in your USB stick called "Metal_Guitar" and copy all these voice files there.

Plug the USB stick on to Genos.  Press the R1 voice sub window on the touch screen, then select User, then USB1, then the sub folder "Metal_Guitar" and pick any voice you want to try.

Thanks,
Paul

I have now made a "Voices" folder on my USB1 drive and put a "Metal Guitars" folder in that.

Thanks to Francesco for the work

Hi Gary,

if not done yet, simply try these Metal Guitar voices on your Tyros5:

Unzip the voices, then copy them to a USB stick and use the Voice Selection display (Tab to USB1) on Tyros5 (for example in Right 1 part).

I did NOT try these voices on T5 yet, but XG tone generators usually replace unknown voices/effects automatically with similar ones. Maybe you can do something with these Genos voices on T5 as well. :)

Best regards,
Chris

Hi Eric !

Soundwise, everything is basically feasible, but unfortunately Yamaha does not allow the end customer to own MEGA Voices, S-Art Voices or REVO! To create drums. The YEM has this no editing options. I programmed the heavy guitar according to the concept of Multilayers with Dynamic Zones and Key Zones. A deeper edition is not possible for end customers or third party manufacturers. Only Yamaha has the possibility to edit or produce these sounds. We've already brought this annoying condition to Yamaha several times, but in Japan, you can hear taueb ears.

Greetings from "Old Germany" ! :-)

Hello !

I can not really help with styles. We do not produce styles. The exchange of copyrighted software is also prohibited. The production of software costs time and money. Whether the price appears to be justified, everyone must know himself. Simply copy or exchange is not the correct way. Sooner or later such companies have to stop production and where do you get your software from?

Greetings / Peter

What makes you think that only Samplecreator have made Reggaeton styles?
I've made some Reggaeton styles back in 2011-2012, also on EDM Essential 2 and on my latest Expansion Pack Best of EDM & Trance

Here is a couple of videos with my Reggaeton styles
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DGNybJw8Xk  at 2:07 you can hear the Mega Reggaeton style.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCBiWbRjQfM  at 1:07 you hear Dirty Reggaeton style.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4v05ZhYzos  Reggaton style based on Becky G "Sin Pijama"

There is a very nice style from EDM Essential 2 Expansion Pack based on Malumas "felices los 4"

Jan, its sounds fantastic!

Let me ask you this because I'm a bit confused:

If I buy essential 2 it means I dont need essential 1 correct?
What about "The Best of" ? Is this totally different pack?

I'm just trying to prevent buying duplicated styles

You can start to download my previous Dance/Trance style collections including the 2 first Reggaeton styles for free here:
https://psrtutorial.com/sty/collections/jan.html

EDM Essential 2 has only 1 Reggaeton style (Maluma "felices los 4"), but altogether 78 different styles.
It contains 39 brand new styles + all styles from EDM Essential 1,
Ultimate EDM, and 6 styles from Trance Master, so you don't need EDM Essential 1.

The styles covers the most popular EDM genres like Brazilian Bass (G-House), Euro Dance,
Future Bass, Future Pop, Italo Disco, Nu Disco, Progressive House, Trance, and Tropical House.

Let me tell you something because it's VERY relevant to what you just said:

About a month ago I asked Jan for a discount on his product. I wanted to buy 2 packs for a discounted price because 58$ is a lot for me EVEN if I was fully aware of the value and the invested time in making the packs. He refused and I think he doesn't like me since then  ;)

A few days later, A member who read the post with my messages to Jan reached out to me privately and offered me to trade style2psr packs

It was very tempting. He has Essentials 2 And willing to trade if I will get The best of EDM Trance pack. - That is 50% Less from what I would have paid. Again, Very tempting!

I told the guy: Look, Despite the fact that I disagree with Jan and I think a discount should be warranted, I can NOT ignore the fact that his creation is dear to him and he invested in it a lot. I have to respect it and refused his offer!

Literally 10min ago I've purchased both packs and without playing yet I know they are good.

I might be reserved when it comes to spending money on styles. (Especially when some companies are absolutely ridiculous with the price)
But I'm an honest guy and will never hurt someone's business or copy his creation

I also think Jan is an exception to the rule altogether because he's contributing to the community and ALREADY shared many many exceptional styles with everyone. (See the above links he posted)

So, I'm only trying to strengthen what you said and to wish you the best of luck.

I still wonder if its the Japanese team failing to listen.... or the european/geman development and marketing team putting enough pressure on the japanese team..

It shouldn’t be that hard for them to implement the edditing system of the modx into the Genos..  making yem as it was supposed to be a package management system...

Hi !

Yamaha is wrong. The "average user" will hardly be able to use the extended functions, since most of the know-how is missing. He will continue to buy Yamaha software.
The "power user" usually does not buy software from Yamaha anyway, since he does almost everything himself.

It is therefore a misconception of Yamaha that further functions would disturb the sales of the software. If Yamaha offered a YEM "Pro" for a fee, it would be an incentive for people to buy the instruments, as they would finally have a full and up-to-date sampler at hand.

As always ... Japanese narrow-mindedness. If Yamaha goes on like this, then comes the day where more and more "power users" jump off and turn to other options. Once the customers are gone, it will be difficult to get them back.

Hi --

Peter, we share your pain. There are several people on the Forum who develop their own voices using YEM.

I was told (by a Steinberg rep) that new feature requests from individual users are not likely to be implemented. If many users request a feature, it is more likely to be implemented. Yep, Steinberg is not all of Yamaha, but this is a common principle in software marketing and development.

I wish there was a way for all of us who need YEM enhancements to take our collective case to Yamaha. Like others, I've made a personal plea to Yamaha reps, Yamaha support, etc. There doesn't seem to be a way to communicate with Yamaha YEM managers/developers directly like the Yamaha IdeaScale forum for synths. On that forum, members can vote for new product ideas and it's easy to see which ideas are the most popular, needed and wanted.

Unfortunately, comments like ours -- buried in a thread titled "Metal guitars for Genos" -- are unlikely to be heard.

All the best -- pj

But i tend to agree with Peter..

Except for the fact that in my book the narrowmindnessness comes from the European arranger team more then the Japanese team.... when you look how the US based synth team has developed over the last decade, it proves that Yamaha in Japan must be listening to them..   because there is just a single Japanese develoment team working mostly based on the input of the worldwide marketing teams..

I doubt its Yamaha Japan...
Because the difference in everything between the US team and the EU marketing team is shocking..

If they open up the system, the only one that will really benefit is Yamaha..in the long road..and offcourse all the customers..
