I have a Yamaha 5700 I still own with some styles I'd like to use. But they're not in SFF format. Does anyone know how to convert non-SFF styles for use in a Genos?"

Cheers

Kaarlo, the styles in the PSR-5700 were not compatible with anything other than the 5700. And, the only guy that I knew that could convert them to SFF or STY was in the UK, and I'm not sure he is still in business.

Hi Karloo and Gary,

I don't know whether this old post might help:

If someone is able to copy the SFF styles to the PC, I would think they could be converted using MixMaster or StyleMagic by changing the Style Section Markers used by the current .sty format. They must be a modified MIDI file.

Joe, I owned a PSR-5700 and used it on stage for about 5 years - great sounds, but only about 35 styles and a beast to carry at 51-pounds. The styles were very unique and I'm really not sure if they are modified midi files.

All the best,

Kaarlo,

Can you send the files to get a look inside?

Thanks pieterpan,

I highly appreciate your willingness to have a look at the files. The problem is these 5700 styles  do not exist as files, they are internal, you can just output them as audio, if you want to just one track at a time,  e.g. drums, bass, etc.  as one can mute each part separately.

So they would need to be converted audio to midi and then combined. Yamaha did have some 5700 styles on diskette, but those were not superior to what we have on Tyros or Genos  so converting them is not really worthwhile. So what I am trying to find is somebody who is capable to do the audio to midi conversion, or alternatively someone who is so well versed in style creation that he can create a style from just hearing.
I can send you wav files of the style if you think that is of any help.

Cheers

Kaarlo
