Hello, I try save my songs using pendrive USB and so many times appears on the display while is recording  that is not possible to use it,
I have tried several pendrives and always happen the same.  anyone know something about that?

What kind of songs -- midi or audio?

Hello David. Do you mean that you get a message on the screen saying that you cannot save the song?
Here is how I use the USB recorder on my S970.
1. connect the pendrive.
2. Open USB recorder and record your song.
3. When you press the stop button, the song is automatically stored onto  the pendrive. Its name will be Audio 001 unless you have given it a new name. I always name songs using the computer.

Sometimes, if there is a lot of data on the pendrive, it will not save the song.

I use to do it like you and the pendrive ( 32 GB)  is new, not data saved yet  and  more or less 1 min after starting playing  the audio song
appears on the screen the message that is not possible to use the pendrive.

Hi David,
a common problem with usb sticks while recording.
Take a look at the list I have attached with recommented usbs for your S970.
It would be also good to format your usb stick to your keyboard once and then use it.
If you format the usb stick,you will lose all files in it,so make sure you take back up to your pc first.
Prefer usb 2.0 for Yamaha keyboards.

Hi David,

As well as formatting the USB drive on the S970 as suggested, you might also like to check that the latest firmware version is installed in your S970.

This is version 1.06 and Yamaha stated that one of the improvements/fixes that this offered over previous versions was...

"Improved the stability of audio recording when recording to USB flash drive."

If your keyboard is new, then it probably already has ver. 1.06 installed, but it might be worth checking.

You can check by pressing 'Function' > Tab to 'Menu2' > 'System' > Tab to 'Owner'.

Press 'Version' (#7 or 8 buttons) and the currently installed version will be displayed.

If it is not 1.06 then you can download this version and instructions for installing it on the keyboard from your local Yamaha Support website.  Here is a link to the relevant page on the UK site if you want to get it from there... https://uk.yamaha.com/en/support/updates/firm_psr-s970.html

   Also David,
                       Preferably, start with an EMPTY & formatted pendrive.
   There can only be Audio songs that you have recorded on this PSR keyboard to avoid that message.
   Personaly, I have had no trouble with brands or size, just format a pendrive once in your PSR, & keep it for PSR recording ONLY. 
           Only recordings you have done on this PSR can be already on pendrive.
                           That's what I have found on the S900 I have.

You do need a fast writing Pen Drive for audio. I find Verbatim Store-n-Go very good for this.
