Topic: Genos Price In Spain

Hello Everyone.

I thought this may be of interest, only to members in Europe, who still do not have a Genos,
and may wish to acquire one, to know the Genos prices here in Spain.

I have phoned this retailer, and was informed that they deliver to most
European countries.

Aaah, I didn't know. Even though things seem to cost less in the U S.

We are normally charged more for certain things here in the EU.
Even for products made in Europe.

I think it has to do with high VAT rates. The VAT rate here is 21%
Sometimes it has to do with Dollar exchange rates I guess.

A forum member, Robert van Weersch, was interested in knowing the prices in Spain.
It seems that the prices are still quite high in the Netherlands.

I would say this is less than the US price if it contains VAT. Sales tax is usually not included in US prices because it varies and the exchange rate is about 1.25. So the equivalent price in US would have to be only $3750 before tax to equate. I believe US prices are quite a bit higher than this. Seems Yamaha are charging less in Europe than here if this is a correct price, and that would be unusual.

The price quoted includes VAT already.

Actually, if one were to import this to the Netherlands, they would pay a little less,
because I believe their VAT rate is lower.

It was also 4999€ here when first launched.

I have asked a few dealers to notify me via e-mail to update me,
whenever possible, on changes in Genos prices.

If the rate is approx 1.25 US Dollars for each Euro.   I paid even less in the US than the quoted Spain price of 3,590 Euros.     My Genos price was lower than that including tax and shipping to San Diego, CA USA.   So, I tend to disagree that the Yamaha US prices are higher than Europe.   They seem to be at least on par if not lower.

I believe the Spain price provided on this post is the advertised price not the actual price paid after negotiations.

That price is definitely in the right neighborhood for a good USA price. Of course, I can't say for VAT, import duties and Lord knows that else governments impose. 

Hope all is well on your end and that this indicates that you're getting closer to a Genos.

Here in the U.S., Genos is delivered to your door for around that price.

Al - I think you have calculated this by multiplying the delivered price including VAT by the exchange rate, which is not a fair comparison. The true comparison of what Yamaha is charging in each location needs to be done before tax. When you back out VAT which gets you to the true Yamaha dealer price, this is only about 2900 euros, which then converts to around $3600. That is way less than anything I have seen advertised in the USA before sales tax.
Put another way, Yamaha (or their dealer) would have to sell at between 15 and 20 % less in Europe for the end delivered price to the consumer to be the same.
