Downloading Registration Problem
« on: February 04, 2018, 08:21:18 PM »
When I Download Registrations from the PSR Tutorial Forum, they appear on my PC as .pdf files (Adobe Acrobat). This cannot be correct. Aren't they supposed to be RGT? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

Hi Jim

I presume you have checked to make sure you have selected the correct files.  However try changing the File Extension to RGT and give it a go.

Sometimes the computer will make the change when it is not used to the file type.  I bought 3 Styles from Yamaha yesterday but when I looked on the PC it said MID. I simply removed the MID and everything worked.

The problem is apparently my PC with Windows 10. It had the default app set for .RGT as Adobe.

So the only other app available was called Audio Shark. I did the free download. I can now see every .RGT file (and they are no longer Adobe), but they are called Audio Shark files.

When I double-click, it allows me to see the data, and it appears to be fine. However, I cannot use it in the Registration Manager program, in order to convert it to PSR S770.

Any thoughts? I am grateful, in advance, for your help.

Jim,

I do now know anything about Audio shark but I do know you can best copy all the registrations you want to convert to one seperate folder (RGT TEMP for example) to prevent any mistakes and/or mix ups with other files. Than start Registration Manager and either open a registration and convert it. Or do a batch conversion of the entire folder (set source folder to RGT TEMP and target folder for example to RGT CONVERTED) Double clicking a *.rgt file even when registration manager is the only tool registered with this extension, will NOT work. It will only start registration manager but still will not load that file automatically.

hope this helps,
Peter

H Jim

You do not need to look at or open any of the files on the computer. The PC is only a vehicle for downloading.  Simply use Windows Explorer to copy the files to a USB stick for your keyboard.
