All I can see for the psr s975 is some prerecorded styles/sounds on YouTube and they are not even from a Yamaha channel.
Are these sounds from the s975 or are they from a DAW playing refx Nexus?

https://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical_instruments/keyboards/arranger_workstations/psr-s975/audio_video.html#product-tabs

What is the big difference between the two models?
s970 is excellent keyboard allready.
If money is not problem for you to sell the s970 and buy the s975 go ahead.
I would n't sell my car to buy the same car because the new model has better colors inside and a navigator.

My opinion?
you SHOULD wait for a a upgrade to S990...
There's no a huge upgrade to step ahead to S975 for a price +500$....
The S970 is a flagship of PSR-S lines, and will be for long time ahead.

In my opinion, any talk of the PSR-S990 is just that-- talk. We have no clue when (or if) the PSR-S990 will be released, or even whether that will be its name.

Fact: The span of time between the releases of the PSR-S970/770 and PSR-S975/775 is approximately the same as the span of time between the releases of the PSR-S950/750 and PSR-S970/770.

Fact: Some people expressed their opinions that the PSR-S975/775 seem to be geared more toward the Asian market, yet they were exhibited at the Winter NAMM and are available now for order from American music stores, expected to be in stock just a few weeks from now.

To me, these two facts suggest that the PSR-S975/775 are not just some "We've tweaked a few things in the PSR-S970/770 to make them more attractive to the Asian music market and are calling those tweaked models the PSR-S975/775" specialized versions which will soon be replaced by the PSR-S990/790 or whatever, but are indeed the replacements for the PSR-S970/770 and will be around for the next 3 years or so.

Of course, that is just speculation on my part, and I may very well be wrong. But I suspect that if you're going to hold your breath waiting for the PSR-S990 (or whatever it's going to be called), then you should probably be prepared to hold your breath for a couple of years. Every new model that comes out can't be some huge advance over the previous model. I know that's what everyone wants, but it doesn't happen that way. If you look at other keyboard lines from Yamaha-- PSR-E, DGX, etc.-- and look at the differences in features from one model to the next, you'll see that sometimes there are very few changes, whereas at other times there are quite a few changes.

If you're happy with your PSR-S970, and don't think the PSR-S975 is different enough, then hang on to your PSR-S970.

If you'd rather have the newest model with whatever new features it has (however few or however many they might be), then get the PSR-S975.

I found one video of the new model.
At least we can listen something from the instrument here.
Talking about something that plays music without nobody listened to it and if it's price is good or not, worth or not selling your previous model or not etc. seems kind of strange to me.

I agree with SeaGtGruff though when s775 & s975 will be on stores for sale.
If you like a model better go and get it now, while you don't know if and when next will come up and if you are gonna like it or not(it's new features, price etc.)

I noticed on the Italian site of Yamaha that the PSR s 975 is advertised as the definitive PSR S ... this could assume that there will be not a future PSR S 990,as  for the series Tyros passed to the   Genos ...  also the  PSR S  will came then to a new series ...  (the younger sister of Genos).
Only time will tell the near future ...
on the French site the PSR S 975 is in reservation at € 1.999,00 ...

Well, no one but Yamaha knows what Yamaha is planning to do next, but my interpretation of "definitive" in this case is that it's just the equivalent of "flagship"-- a term Yamaha likes to use sometimes for certain models-- or "ultimate" if you will. That doesn't mean the current flagship model in a particular line won't eventually be replaced by a new flagship model down the road. For instance, the PSR-EW400 used to be called the flagship model of the PSR-E line, but that title is now held by the new PSR-EW410. :)

I am going to take a different route. I will sell my PSR S950 (sale pending) and purchase a used Tyros 5. I see no advantage to getting a S975. The trade in Tyros 5s are streaming in to the dealers and the prices are phenomenonal. I have coming a Tyros 5 used at home only in excellent condition.  Since I am using my instrument at home only (no gigs) this fits me perfectly and I get a tremendous upgrade.

It's a perfect decision
Tyros 5 will always be ahead of the 995
The Sound too will be better!

In this video you can see a comparison of one model to another well summarized.
