Extended MIDI song edit
« on: January 10, 2018, 10:12:06 PM »
Hi

I am trying to edit midi song.

When I go in Song record automatically bring me a NEW SONG and extended song disappear.

On Tyros5,4,3,2 extended song was right there including PSR arrangers.

Do I do something wrong?

All my gig setup is trough REGISTRATIONS Banks ,styles, voices etc....everything ,,,including MIDI songs on some.
So when I call that MIDI song trough Memory bank and try to EDIT in REC sections that MIDI song disappear and there is only NEW SONG.So now I need to go trough folders and try to find where is original SONG.

WHAT a waste of time!!!

I am not saying that is BUG,,but I can't believe this is a new way of SONG EDITING in GENOS.

Regards.

All down to good house keeping really. When I record a song in Midi I save into one folder called My Songs. It is then very easy to find and save back once edited.

Thanks EileenL.

As we know so far Yamaha give many different options to use Yamaha keyboards.

One of greatest options are REGISTRATIONS MEMORY.

So I use that opportunity 100% and spend a lot of time to organize them.

Once when there organized (in my GENOS around 700 at this time) I use them for everything. That is way I Call songs.
By the way: All songs I use are in NAMED folders by Singer. And there is a lot folders. So That how I Organise songs and so far on all Tyros  and PSR,s was just fine.
So Yamaha had that right in all ex arrangers and still in PSR series and ONLY NOT IN GENOS.????

ALSO when I finish editing Song in GENOS and save and than I want to test ,,than I Found I need to adjust something just a little bit ....Guess what????

NEW SONG again pop-up and Extended gone....

What a waste of time in this crazy fast era....

Regards.

Unfortunately it is. I agree that it was perfect in Tyros/PSR, and in Genos it is a cumbersome workflow. I hope this will be improved (not fixed  ;D) in the future, i.e. a Genos 1 (!) firmware.

Hi --

I noticed this difference in behavior vs. PSR-S950, too.

Yes, it seems that a NEW SONG is created when entering MIDI Multi Recording. Genos does not retain the song which is currently loaded in the Song Player. You must import the existing MIDI song into MIDI Multi Recording in order to edit it.

This is a difference. Once I realized this, I just dealt with it and adapted to the new workflow.

I agree that someone who is used to the old workflow on other PSR keyboards may be surprised by this change.

All the best -- pj

Hi pj

I am always for NEW ideas ,,but good ideas.

In this case idea gone back, not ahead.

So I realized immediately and I am working now with this because can't be better like WAS already.
So really I am not complaint never for better ideas which in this case I don't think so.

Best regards.

Hi metcam --

I just realized that my comment sounded rather harsh.

It took me a while, too, to realize that the loaded song was getting wiped clean every time I went into MIDI Multi Record. Once I realized that the workflow had changed, I just toughed it out in order to get my work done. I didn't mean to sound like I was criticizing your initial comment.

Yeah, Yamaha ought to look into streamlining this part of the workflow. Or, shucks, at least document the change if they don't make it consistent with the other products.

All the best and I really do appreciate your comments. They come from experience.

Having a touch screen makes things a lot faster than a no touch screen.
Once you go around the block a few times things get familier again.
Genos, I7 computer 32 gig ram, Focusrite 6i6, Cubase controller, Focal Alpha Monitors, Yamaha DXR8 Speakers
Cubase 10, Sonarworks, Izotope.  Sampletank, Arturia and Korg software.  Now IK Mixbox
