Hi l am new to this site l have just bought a new prs s970 and at the same time l also bought a Taylor Baby guitar now the problem l have is when l connect the guitar there seams to be interference something like a earth loo[ l have tried new cable and checked to see if it set to guitar on the rear of the par and turned the gain down, l would like to know if anyone else has this problem

may l just add l am 70 years old and have not had a keyboard for a long long time l think the last one l bought was a Roland Juno 1 and the Roland S10

I consider this question is general and valid for all yamaha kwyboards that have an  Mic/Guitar Input.
I also have some humming^ground noise and I'm not sure if it is from the guitar or if it is something else.
The mic works fine, though.

To eliminate humming noises, you may want to consider connecting your guitar 1/4 inch unbalanced output to a direct box (with ground lift), which converts unbalanced input to balanced output, then connect the balanced output of the direct box to the mic/guitar input of the PSR-S970.

I tested Radial ProD2 2-channel passive direct box with great results:

If you prefer a single channel direct box, the Radial ProD1 should be a great choice (I did not buy this one, but judging from the superior build and quality of Radial ProD2, I would think that this should be good):

Since the balanced output of the above direct boxes is XLR balanced output, you will need a XLR-to-1/4-inch cable to connect to your PSR-S970's mic/guitar input:

First connect without pushing in the ground "LIFT" button on the direct box and see if the hums go away.  If hums can still be heard, then push in the ground "LIFT" button on the direct box to get rid of the hums.
