Hi Antonia

I'm not exactly sure if I understand you correctly, however

You Can save individual registrations to a playlist.  There is a single tab marked add to playlist.
You Can Edit and change Registrations.
You Can Change style and sounds (IN REGISTRATION OR STYLE)
There is no confusion (in my mind) about playlists. It does not get any easier.

Point 2 I do not understand

1) impossible to save individual registrations
I don't understand what you're trying to say, but I have no problem-saving individual registrations to a playlist

2) impossible to transform the global playlist into those of Keyword

No playlist does not use keywords like the Music Finder did

3) Impossigle editing and saving changes to the registration
  see answer to number 1

4) changes on styles and sounds are not accepted
Where are you talking about?

5)there is a lot of confusion in the pages in the management of playlists
The manuals are never really great when it comes to explaining but I don't seem to have the problem managing playlists, can you elaborate for us?

Assuming you have at least one playlist or more, you go to that playlist and from the playlist screen you choose “add to playlist.”  Then navigate to where the registration is that you want to add and then add it.

Touch “under record” the word that reads " LIST " that will take you to where you’ll then navigate to where ever your registrations are stored.

Referring to the pic that is posted above, press EDIT, than select 6.
That will load the registration button 6 for that record in playlist.
If you notice in the picture all the playlist records are pointing to registration button 1.

There has got to be a solution to this what is the point of a playlist if you can just look at your registration banks and do the same think ? If you are playing live you want the style to be easily accessible and not hidden for a quick change .I thought this was what the playlist would do scroll through styles and hit the next one you want .

And going one step further.
If you have a registration bank that has 10 songs in it, one for each button, add that registration to the playlist 10 times.
Then for each song in that bank, EDIT the button you want that playlist record to point to, rename it, and then save the playlist.
Now you have 10 playlist records, for one bank, with 10 songs in it and named exactly as you want it to.

The purpose of a playlist it to easily get to a group of songs that you play quickly.
I have over 400 registrations for songs I do.
I would be spinning the wheel a lot to get to the song I want just looking through all my registrations.
I created playlists called SET1, SET2, SET3, 40s, OLD COUNRY, OLDIES, etc.
And I can create as many playlists as I want to.

I assume you are assuming that you have created registrations
ex novo from Genos.

With the registrations converted for Genos your speech
it's not worth anymore.

Tyros 5

the organization of the songs consisted of a series of Repertoire / Thema with about 60/70 songs.

The repertoires are 51 with a total of about 3200 Songs.

With the convenient function of the Keyword I was able to produce well-defined repertoires.

Genos

With the Genos the conversion was traumatic, managing 2500 records in one file it's terrible.

With Michael Bedesen's MUSIC FINDER VIEW program, I saved my repertoires (51) in a partial way.

However the management is still heavy, you can only select a record and play, other operations like saving, editing etc.
it turns out at the moment not manageable.

When you select a record and Load it to play, press EXIT to go back to main menu.
Make what changes you want to voices, tempo, volume settings, and then click on the Registration on the top of the screen, and save it.
The next time you call up that song in your playlist, it will load the changes you  made.

A playlist record is just a pointer to a registration.
So, if you make a change to a registration, it automatically plays those changes in the playlist.

The 'screen shot' in Iain's post is simply a photograph of his screen.

However you can easily make much better electronic images of the actual display contents at any time by following the procedure in Uli's (voodoo) post at this link...

There are 3 ways to get your playlist in alphabetical order.

1. Create all your registrations first, then add records to your playlist.
I created one for oldies, going through the pages of my registrations, and just clicked on the ones I wanted.

2. You can move a record in your playlist, up or down, clicking on the arrow, on the playlist screen.

3. Look at the bottom of this post to see how to do it on your computer.

Antonio,
Did you test your procedure?  There are multiple Genos owners who had difficulty in getting the sorted .TSV file to actually load on Genos.

I posted the following to illustrate sorting of playlist using Microsoft Word instead of Excel in case there is any issues with sorting using Excel:

Gerard

Thanks, Gerard for pointing him to the right discussion thread.

The link I provided was my specific post on how to sort the playlist using Microsoft Word in that particular discussion thread - tried to save him some time not having to go through the whole thread.

Using Excel to sort the playlist.tsv file is cumbersome due to the contents of the playlists.  In some rows of the playlists, there are some 'unexpected' spaces that could add some unnecessarily long handling time.  Some Genos users also reported that they could not load the sorted .tsv file from Excel to the Genos, although I was able to sort using free WPS Spreadsheet program with success in loading the resulted .tsv file on Genos.

Using Microsoft Word to sort the playlist is a lot simpler and faster, that was why I posted the procedure for the convenience of other Genos owners.

Thanks,
Paul

Antonio,

Thanks for doing the screen captures.  However, it is too much work first to download a series of zipped files, then unzip them to see what you meant.  It is easier to just type up your procedure.

I personally do not need your procedure because I know how to sort it with Microsoft Word, Excel, and WPS Spreadsheet.

Thanks,

it takes a long time to get your playlist right but it's worth it till someone comes up with a program for the genos.
The penny dropped with me that it only loads registrations in batches of ten so load it ten times then change the name of every reg button to the correct title of your style or song.most people who only play in the house would not have many to fix.If like me you have over 70 styles it can take some time .

the problem is that the records of the playlists can not be manipulated.
Strangely it seems that there are no pages, buttons etc. to complete the operations.

I found what might be handy for some people if you are in playlist and select a style or song if you press registration up and down together then press exit it will take you to the ten registrations info so you could see more styles that you may have grouped together you only need to press reg up and down the first time as going back to playlist change to another style and press exit will take you to that registration .Hope someone finds a use for it.

Antonio,

You mentioned you have 51 repertoires that have about 60 songs in each that were in Musicfinder.
Those 51 repertoires would be 51 playlists in Genos.

It seems when you converted your Muiscfinder list into Genos you ended up with 3200 songs in one playlist.
Is this correct?
If that is true, do you have 3200 registrations for your playlist?
Let me know and then I might be able to help you.
One way to check, is by loading a song from the playlist, press EXIT, then at the top of the main screen you  will see the registration for that song.

Gerard

Actually there are 2 playlists 2400 recond and 800 records, because the Music Finder as the Genos Playlist can contain a maximum of 2,500 records.

These records are subdivided under a Keyword (tag in Genos). During the import of records a single playlist is imported instead of partializing this list with the respective keywords (tags). The Keyword represent the Songbooks.

In this case I would have 51 Song Dossier of 60/70 records already divided, and in alphabetical order.

If you want to rework or edit the registration, it is not so easy to enter and exit the menus,
that are still not mature and stable.

I hope I managed to explain well.

Antonio,

Yes I have a Genos.
Your 51 song Dossier with 60 to 70 songs each, should be 51 playlists.
In MusicfinderView, checkmark all the songs for one of the 51 song dossier.
Then FILE/SAVE/MUSICFINDER File, and click on Checked Records Only.
Then give it a filename for that song dossier.
Do that for each of the 51 song dossier. and you will end up with 51 Musicfinder files.
In Genos, You can then make a playlist for each one.

Registration - Music Finder / Playlist

1) impossible to save individual registrations
2) impossible to transform the global playlist into those of Keyword
3) Impossible editing and saving changes to the registration
4) changes on styles and sounds ( registration ) are not accepted
5) there is a lot of confusion in the pages in the management of playlists

Gerard

We turn around the topic but in reality what emerges is what I wrote above.
I confirm after various attempts that the situation is this. If a robust upgtade does not arrive
or the intervention of a programmer, we will all end up going fishing.

Antonio,
I am sorry but I have been able to do everything that you stated you needed to do.
On my PSR S970, when I made a change to a song that was in Musicfinder, I made the change to the registration and then saved it to the Musicfinder record.
Either you are not specific enough or I do not understand your problem.

You can create as many Playlists as you want to. You need 51.
You can edit any registration that points to a playlist record.
When you save the registration the playlist record will automatically open the edited and saved registration.

If Yamaha could make the Playlist mode work like the Styles mode, then it will be much easier.
I have been able to copy individual styles from different Style Packs and put them a new Folder.

Similarly, I would like to have a Folder with just the songs that I have chosen from different MF Finders. For Ex.: I have MF Tyros 3, Tyros 4 and Tyros 5.
Every time I select a song and move it to my Folder it brings all the songs from the the original Playlist.

What we need in playlist, is a simple control (object) which will do a lot of work. The object is a custom ListView with sortable Header, or a GridView with Sortable Header. When you click on Playlist Record "Name" column header, the playlist will be sorted in alphabetical order (ascending or descending, by number of clicks over it).

2. The possibility to add a selected registration from a registration bank to a playlist from registration info screen. ("Add to playlist...")
3. (Replaces 2) When you press "List" button on playlist screen, under Add Record label, the screen looking for registration banks is opened. An option to see what is inside the selected bank, like Registration Info screen, and selecting a registration from that bank, to make a one-step add record task to playlist. The rests of settings, like lyrics, or text, or score can be added later to that playlist record.

Simple, no?  :)

Actually it's one registration bank per song. I use always several registrations per song. The remaining registrations are unused, not useless.

Hi
I have  just looked at playlists and it would be nice if you could go to the Registration section and add and just select a playlist song and it is already loaded.
So by just pressing the song in the playlist it is all set to go. Instead of selecting and pressing load.
Surely Yamaha have just to make a pathway to the registration.
On the playlist you can see more songs per screen than the registation view, so all it needs is a link for just the song name and then pages and pages for the playlist.
I am not a computer programmer , but would that not quicken things up for the player gigging.

All the best

I agree. And it wouldn't be hard for Yamaha to do. They could give us a parameter (like quick load for midis) which we could set to choose one tap or two.

My understanding of the double tap is you get to select the next song while playing the current one. Then one tap at the song end loads the next one.

Another useful feature would be moving to the next song in the playlist when you get to the sequence end. Currently, it goes to the next registration, which might have nothing to do with the current playlist. They could add this to the sequence end options they currently have.
