Fade has disappeared?
« on: December 09, 2017, 09:33:52 AM »
Hi friends

I just have made a sad discovery. But I hope that I am wrong here ...

Apparently the  fade button from the Tyros has vanished on the Genos?!

I used it a lot .... :'(

Kind regards

Torben
Tyros 5 was my choice - now it is only Genos1 !

I noticed this last Week when i tried the genos. I Really don't understand this decision. The Seller was surprised too. Very desappointent decision.

You can assign Fade to the Rotary SP/Assignable button.

Hi guys,

Do you really use the FadeOut button when playing a live gig?

I have always gone to YouTube to listen to how the artist/band ended the song live or anyone else that has done the song live for an idea of how to end the song.

I guess maybe that is why Yamaha removed the Buttons, it is something that a Songwriter doing a demo of the song would use.

Drake

Though I have never used fade in/fade out, it is good to know that one can assign anything they want, to any button they want.

I guess it's just a matter of  digging deeper into the menus, and taking into account that Yamaha has adopted a completely new approach for the Genos, as opposed to previous keyboards.
But it's still good to know that all these possibilities exist.

I'm still waiting for a Genos to arrive here.
I note down all these solutions, to save myself time when I finally get my hands on one to demo.

Best Regards,
Pianoman.

You can assign Fade to the Rotary SP/Assignable button.

Fred

Hi Fred,

I agree that assigning "Fade in / Fade out" to the "Rotary SP / Assignable" is the most logical button position - just next to the "ACMP" button, as we can assign another button to "Rotary SP" if we need that function.

Thanks,
Paul

That is one of the first things I did (assign a button for FADE OUT).....how else can you pleasantly end the style for a song where you don't want to use any of the pre-packaged endings or the STOP button?  I guess you could use a slider for the volume and slowly turn it down (not a good option).  Wow - if I only had one more arm.  How awesome would that be!!

Fade in/out can also be assigned to a pedal.

I have just been reading about assigning pedal functions and noticed this ,maybe will be useful for some.

Where is "here?" I really wish this forum would have a required "Country" field in the setup page like the Nord forum. You'd be surprised how often it is necessary to know where the OP is from before adding an answer or comment!!!!!!

If the OP is from Canada, I'd say, "Good luck! I was told by Yamaha to suck it up and that it was none of my business why it takes so long for Canada to see the new keyboards." If the OP is from Europe or Britain, I would assume it's due to arrive in a day or so because Yamaha thinks his or her market is FAR more important than the Canadian market. You'd be surprised at how well Canadians play music. We just have to go elsewhere to be recognized - but I digress.
"Learn" your music correctly, then "practice" it. Don't practice mistakes because you'll learn them.
