Hi,
I don't understand why EQ1 and EQ2 have the same frequency and the same quotient, are you sure of that ?

Hi,
I tried your settings but the sound on my monitors ( MS 802 Electrovoice) is a little bit agressive. So, I give you my owns settings

EQ1  160Hz,      Q = 1.0   + 6 Db

EQ2   1.2 Khz    Q = 0.1    + 5 Db

EQ3   1.8 Khz    Q = 0.3    + 3 Db

EQ4    3.6 Khz   Q = 0.2    + 2 Db

EQ5    5.6 Khz   Q = 7.1    + 8 Db

Can you try these settings and say us how the general sound is ?

Thanks

Regards

PS/ I tried this setting with modified Genos' Style, Cha-Cha 1.

 Here are the 2 tests:

Thanks so much Ben and Seagull,

I have noted and inset both of your eq setups.. One labeled Genos and the other best.
Can't believe the difference in sound from my former set ups.. it is WOW ..

Much appreciated

Ben,
Thank you for the Super Tyros EQ settings and Comp. settings. You really did manage to imitate the crispness and punch that the Genos has on the Tyros 5.
I use two Bose Compact 1 speakers and they sound fantastic.
One word of caution for anyone that is going to try these settings.
Turn your volume to about half of what you had as a starting point.

Hey Ben,
I play at home with headphone.
When I use your combination, I have almost no bas-voice !
For me it's better to put Eq1 in 80 Hz and 8 Db

EQ settings depend on so many factors - room you're playing in, type of surfaces, speaker cross-over frequency, and speaker frequency range, to name a few. I also use two Compacts, so it's good to hear the T5 sounds better through them  ;)!

I'll give the settings a listen. Thanks!

EQ4   0.1              2.2KHZ         11DB OR 10 DB
EQ5   0.1              2.2KHZ         11DB OR 10 DB

Bmarcill, we still don't have an explanation of these duplicate values. Is there another error or can we ignore EQ5? Thanks for the settings :)!
Also everyone note, a 10 dB increase represents twice perceived volume!

EQ4   0.1              2.2KHZ         11DB OR 10 DB
EQ5   0.1              2.2KHZ         11DB OR 10 DB

I don't have my T5 anymore, but looking at these numbers... this looks like extreme coloration of the sound.

You can have two EQs at the same frequency. The dBs add up then. So these two EQs give a whopping 20-22dB increase of a wide band around 2.2kHz. That is... a LOT.

Based on the numbers alone (and not my ears), I would expect a big volume increase in the middle frequencies, with reduced low frequencies (bass) and reduced high frequencies ("air"). Like a cheap transistor radio with a small speaker.

If this works for you, go for it. But I don't understand how this could sound good.

Agreed Maarten - not to mention the effect it would have on vocals being sung through the T5.

A 20 db increase is 4 times perceived volume and 10 times the sound pressure effect. If one wasn't careful, the limiters would be constantly triggered in the Bose Compacts, likely leading to a failure. To be fair, it would take some time, but I've seen soloists treat their single Compact like a Bose L2, which has 24 large tweeters and is very loud.

All the same Ben, your idea is intriguing and perhaps feasible with some lesser db settings. If you created an enhanced frequency response curve, that's a good thing. I intend to give the settings a try. Haven't had time lately due to gigs, which is also a good thing. Thanks for sharing :)!

Bernard, he may mean that you should reduce the db numbers by 50 percent of his posted levels. Can you confirm this, Ben?

Ben, I tired your settings, and I agree with Maarten. The bass disappears and the midrange is are very loud. For those using two Bose Compacts, I suggest the following changes to the dB values:

EQ 1   1 dB (Optionally, use Ed's setting of 80 Hz at 3 dB. Caution! This may not be a good setting for those using a sub. Check the low pass setting for the sub.)
EQ 2   1 dB
EQ 3   2 dB
EQ 4   3 dB
EQ 5   0 dB

I find at these modified levels, Ben's idea is a great improvement! It makes the "incredibly long Canadian wait for a Genos" a little easier. Thanks Ben!

I had a practice today with the new settings from Ben but with my modified values, as per my reply. I also used the sub that I designed and built. What a difference!! My vocalist couldn't believe his ears. All those who use the Bose Compact(s) - I urge you to try my settings, which are based on Ben's initial skills :).

Thanks Ben!

Sure Yammy, here you go.

I urge all Bose Compact users to experiment with these settings. If you come up with anything better, please share your settings. I have no ego to bruise :). My settings provide a slight increase in the midrange levels. For me it makes a huge difference. The T5 seems to have more dynamic body now. She's not a Genos, but close  ;).

Re: how to have a tyros genos sound
« Reply #29 on: January 16, 2018, 05:24:17 PM »
I left EQ 5 out, Yammy - not needed.

All the EQ settings (1 through 5) are just "bands." You can use any or all of them depending on your needs. I've designed speakers where the room response caused a slight hole in a certain frequency. Let's say the hole resided around 4,000 Hz. I could have used EQ 1 or any other EQ band, as I please. I just makes sense to use the EQ bands in order of low to high frequencies. There are 5 available bands in the T5 EQ area. I only needed 4 to solve my problem. Some hardware EQ units have 64 bands. Half of those may not even be used, that is, left set at 0 dB.

Hope that helps :).

For drum remapping you can use for instance Jørgen Sørensen's Revo Drum Cleaner tool, see
