This BBS is for owners (and prospective owners) of Yamaha arranger keyboards.  The BBS has been launched with three primary Categories: PSR-2000, Yamaha TYROS, and Yamaha PSRs.  There are a number of "forums" under the PSR2000 category, since, as an offshoot of the psrtutorial site, which is focused on the Yamaha PSR-2000 and PSR-1000 keyboards, many of the posts here are anticipated to be about those keyboards.  But the brand new Yamaha Tyros keyboard operates much like the 2000, so many of the features found in the 2000 will also apply to that keyboard.  For Tyros specific questions, I have added the Tyros category.  The third category is for comments and questions about all other Yamaha arranger keyboards.

This is a relatively complex BBS with lots of options.  Some users may recognize it and feel perfectly at home.  However, it is new to me and I'll have to learn how to navigate it just like everyone else.  As an administrator, I have considerable control over this BBS, a capability I did not have in the earlier forum provided by Bravenet.  Please bear with me as I learn what is possible and what features may be valuable.  If anyone has advice or suggestions, feel free to email me.

Like launching a balloon into the sky, it will be fun to see where this new initiative flys as the days/weeks/months go by.

Hi Joe, Thanks for the new forum site and all your time and effort that has gone into all of your work. If this site is any fraction of your work on the 2k tutorial site, it will be a sucess.
Do you know if the 2k is going to be able to be upgraded to the new 2100? I like some of the additions described about the 2100 but hate to replace my 2k already.

Hi Joe

Nice job on the new forum.
I plan to check in regularly, from time to time, to see what's new.
Thanks again for making the PSR2000 community better.

Well, Steve, you are giving me the opportunity to post my FIRST reply in this new bulletin board!  At least I'll see how to do it.  (I clicked on the "Quote" button on the right to launch this reply.  I didn't see an option to post without the quote.)

I wish I had more info on the new 2100.  I can not say for certain whether the 2000 will be upgradeable, but I would suspect not.  Yamaha did not make the operating system upgradeable via software and the new voices will probably be implemented by replacing chips in the keyboard.  I can understand keyboard fever a bit more now.  I've had my 2000 for almost 1 1/2 years and I love it.  But I am getting ready for a change and am planning to get the 2100.  Since my youngest daughter has expressed interest in my 2000, I guess I won't be selling it and will have to foot the bill for the new one-- but at least it will be lots cheaper than the Tyros.

I also see that my reply was listed simply as from GUEST.  I suppose that's because I must have replied without explicitly logging in to the BBS under my username, which is JoeW.  By the way, my "administrator" name is psrtut2, so if you see a post from that, it's me.  I recommend that users register with the BBS and then Login when they visit.  You can set the Login to be automatic.

Thanks, Gary.  This "site" is primarily the default php Bulletin Board.  Most of the "features" are inherent in the product.  However, I DID select the high-level "Categories" - PSR2000, Tyros, and PSR.  I also selected a number of "Forums" uncer the PSR2000 "Category".  Users can launch new "Topics" in any of the forums.  If there is demand, I can also add a new "forum" or a new "category" as required.  Also, as you see, Gary, I did find that I could modify the "style" of this BBS by increasing the default font size.  I can change other features of the style as well such as colors, font type, etc.  But, if it ain't broke .....

Hi Joe, I posted a reply to your reply but don't see it. I guess I need to experiment a little to see how the different functions work. I also posted a new subject, but don't see it either.  Any help would be appreciated.

I find that if I log on to the site, and then view a different subject or forum, I have to log on again. Is that correct? Or am I doing something wrong?

Once you are logged in, you should be able to see, at the very top of the page under the psrtutorial forum banner, a list of different optiosn.  The last should say Logout [ your user ID ].  This means you are currently logged in under whatever ID is showing there.  I tried moving to different subjects and different categories, and I remained logged in.  You should not have to log in again once you have logged in (and NOT logged out.)   I did notice, however, if I follow a link from my e-mail that brings me to a message here, I can respond, but the answer will show up as "Guest" unless I remember to "Login" under my "JoeW"  identity.  I can also login under "psrtut2", but I reserve that for use only when I have to do administrative tasks.  When you login, you should be able to check an option that logs you in automatically whenever you come to the board.

Hi Joe,

Is it hard to "incorporate" old posts into this new forum, there were some good info there that perhaps can benefit to some (new) people ...  just a thought ...

I like this forum design much better, good job Joe ...!!  Oh, and thanks goodness for not seeing those annoying pop-up windows anymore !!

 There is no easy, i.e. automated, way to move messages from Bravenet here.  In fact, when I discovered that the number of messages "saved" by Bravenet was severly limited with early messages just disappearing into nothing was a major reason I started looking for an alternative.  Yes, indeed, there was usefull information there and it was just disappearing.  Hopefully, over time, similar useful information will appear here.

Cool Hi Joe,

One of the things that is missing from the forum's pages is a direct link to the home page, which would be helpful when someone is directed back to a particular tutorial page. Everything else seems to be working out great.

Sad   Right you are!  There is no link back.  I'm not sure where (or if) I can put one someplace.  It can always be in a message, of course, but it would be better up somewhere near the title.  I'll look at administrator options and see if I can find something that can be done about this.
